The Kinks are undeniably one of the greatest & influential rock bands of all time. Here’s a shot of Ray Davies taken during his Storyteller tour in 1994. Long live Ray & Dave Davies - and thank you for the days!

Great times in 2003 with Dave Davies in NYC. This was during the time Dave Davies was promoting the excellent “Bug” album. It was and is always a thrill to see Dave on stage. His guitar playing & music has inspired millions during his career & I’m looking forward to a little more inspiration when I see him again soon!

I only met Evan Bartleson one time at The Shed in Tennessee. I noticed the boys carving their names in a table in the green room before the show. They were both having such a great time together, laughing, cracking jokes, as they carved away. They looked like kids or teenagers while they sat there doing their handiwork. When I think of these two guys, this is the way I’ll remember the friendship & dynamic between them.

Blackberry Smoke — September 24, 2015 backstage in North Carolina. A few thoughts on this photo: I did not get many opportunities to take a “band photo” of the group. This one was hurried and quick, taken backstage, probably 3 or 4 minutes before the guys were to perform. I was playing around with a flash off the camera body. (Kinda cool.) There was little time to think. Just shoot. — The day before this show I traveled through floods in Wilmington, NC. Roads were closed with 4 feet of water flowing through. Somehow I got there and the show went on. Jive Mother Mary was the supporting band on the bill. They were really good! That show was also memorable as it was the debut of sound man John Farrell. I miss this stuff! Lots of hard work, but worth every minute.

“Today, we commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Stony Point, one of the most daring victories of the American Revolution right here in Rockland County.

On the night of July 16, 1779, General Anthony Wayne and the Continental Army launched a bold midnight assault that reclaimed this strategic position along the Hudson River. The victory boosted patriot morale and helped secure the Hudson Valley—an area that proved vital to America’s fight for independence.

As we remember those who fought for our freedom, we’re reminded that the Hudson Valley isn’t just rich in natural beauty—it’s where history was made.”

I shot the shot the photo above at the Stony Point Battlefield & Lighthouse during a July 4th ceremony celebrating our 250th Anniversary. There will be another ceremony/reenactment at the lighthouse this weekend in memory of this historic battle.

Last fall, I was on hand for a revolutionary war reenactment at the Stony Point Battlefield. It was the first time I witnessed one of these events. Watching Keneth Gavin command his troops was very enlightening. I became hooked instantly to learn more. Nowadays, I am looking to photograph reenactments all the time it seems. For the 50th birthday of our nation, the timing could not be better.

Here’s a graphic I put together with photos I shot at the Battle for Putnam Revolutionary War reenactment. General Washington is portrayed by historian/actor John Koopman III. Here he is on the battlefield with his horse “Bear”. .welch.fuzileers
