McGonegle earns podium spot
All three CPU wrestlers won matches at state

Jackson McGonegle had a fantastic run to the Class 2A-106 semifinals as he won all three of his matches by fall to get into the final four. McGonegle beat Andrew Collins from Anamosa, Keller Little of Eddyville and Edisen Fullhart of Decorah. He ran into Anderson Osgood from Solon in the semi-final and lost by tech fall to set up a consolation semifinal battle against Tyler Gerhold of Alburnett.

Will Griswold had a nice run at state after dropping his first match. He picked up a decision win over Jayse Jensen and won by fall over Drake Howard of Sergeant Bluff-Luton before losing the Chase Krantz of Assumption.
Danny Small received a bye in the opening round and then beat Carter Eddy of Independence in the second round by a 7-0 decision. Small lost his quarterfinal match to fall into the consolation bracket but came back by pinning Tayten Rummel of Algona in the consolation fourth round. Small fell in consolation round five and will wrestle for 7th place.

Andrew Collins and Charlie Lindley made Central City proud with their performances at the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines. The duo wrestles for Anamosa and both picked up victories in their trip to state.
After dropping his opening match, Collins beat Gage Moss in the 2A-106-pound division consolation round two before dropping his round three match to Dayton Van Horn of Atlantic. Collins finished the season with 34 wins.
Lindley went unbeaten in the opening day of the Class 2A-113 pound division with a pair of wins by fall as he beat Kellen O’Gara of Decorah and Garrett Pumphrey of EBF to make the quarterfinals.
Lindley dropped two matches in day number two but can hold his head high after a 45 win season on the mat.

Jacob Rauch and Westyn Price both won three matches at the IHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Des Moines to lead North Linn.
Rauch and Price both lost their second matches and needed to battle back in the consolation bracket to try and earn a spot on the podium. Each wrestler picked up two wins on the backside but ultimately fell in the consolation round four.
Rauch ends the season with a 35-11 record, Price was 39-10 and along with Trevor Kaut who totaled 40 wins and Jacoby Peyton (32-6) North Linn wrestling once again proved they can compete with the best in the state. Kaut was able to pick up a win in the tournament as well and unfortunately for Peyton he had a medical forfeit in his consolation match.
