The loss of beloved Lt. K9 Six is felt deeply by so many.

He was more than just a dog. He was a protector, a partner, and a bridge between law enforcement and the community. His job may have been catching the bad guys, but his gift was helping kids and adults feel safe, connected, and able to trust both him and his handler.

I had the privilege of capturing Six’s career from the very beginning — from calendar pin-up pup, to goofy family dog in silly headgear, to the brave K9 who wore his badge and cape with pride. Through it all, he had the best temperament and the biggest heart.

I’ll never forget the first time he decided to sit in my lap. I was told, “Don’t hug him, he won’t like it.” I did it anyway and told him Aunt Amber wouldn’t tolerate fits. He grumbled, but he tolerated my crazy. From then on, every time I saw him, it was lots of love, leaning on each other, and a bond I’ll always treasure.

My heart breaks for his loss, and especially for the family who loved him so deeply.

Until we meet again, my sweet friend. Protect those streets of gold with your brothers and K9s in blue. 💙🐾

Tears were had today but not because I'm sad, but because time is a thief. I love this young man more than he will ever know.

I'm not ready, but kinda ready. I'm going to miss watching him on the baseball field and on the court. I'm not gonna miss asking if he's got assignments turned in or reminding him of dates for things. I am however excited to watch him kick butt in the welding world! And hopefully he ventures south so we have someplace warm to visit! My first born, you've taught me so much. I haven't always gotten it right,but I've given you every ounce of my heart and soul to lead you and teach you. I love you more than you'll ever know.
