"Eat your colors, but photograph them first. 🎨 My new 75% fruit diet is officially double-tasking as my muse."

It’s been a minute, hasn't it? I’m still sitting on my summer photos, but I couldn't resist. I used to paint still life with oil when I was a kid but as a photographer not so much until this.
My new routine has me eating about 75% fruit, which means my 100-year-old dough bowl is almost always overflowing. It sits on a table right by the back door, and lately, the way the sun hits it has been catching my eye.
They say natural light is a photographer’s dream, and honestly, you just can’t beat what nature provides. No fancy backdrop needed—just the sun doing its thing.
I’m calling this one "Portrait of a Fruit Bowl." 🍎✨

It's been awhile since I've posted anything and I do miss shooting. Hopefully now that I have my life back, I'll have more time to do what I love.
In the meantime,I did have two photos chosen in the Marietta Mountain to River Trail Fest. Year 3. It's always such an honor to have my art showcased throughout Cobb County for a year.

It’s been a quiet day of reflection, trying to center myself and prepare for what lies ahead. I decided to declare it a no-politics Sunday and immerse myself in music instead. It was so calming —until that one John Legend song came on and brought back memories of my life’s greatest mistake. But I quickly found my way back to peace.

As I listened, I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the beauty of Italy. Here’s a glimpse in color. I have so many more to share, so stay tuned for another post in a few days!

Wishing everyone a peaceful and reflective Sunday. Enjoy! 🇮🇹❤️

"Just spent some time exploring Varenna at Lake Como, and I’m torn between black and white and color photos! The monochrome shots really highlight the charm and textures, but the colors bring the scene to life. I'm still working on color, but I have a favorite in this batch. Can you guess? Which is yours?

I’m back from an unforgettable solo journey through Europe, and finally ready to share all the incredible experiences with you!

Munich truly surprised me—it wasn’t on my radar, but now I’m in love! In just 24 hours, I packed in as much as I could. One highlight was touring the stunning Linderhof Palace and the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. Linderhof, nestled in the charming village of Ettal, was the smallest of King Ludwig II’s three palaces but absolutely breathtaking. Walking through its ornate rooms, adorned with original art and furnishings, was surreal. Did you know this palace was completed in 1876? Ludwig decorated it himself, and the details are simply mesmerizing.

Neuschwanstein, the prototype for Disney’s castle, was equally captivating. The history behind King Ludwig II is both fascinating and tragic—his mysterious death adds an eerie layer to the castle's beauty.

I also explored the vibrant streets of Munich. Marienplatz, with its stunning architecture and the famous glockenspiel, was a highlight. The Neues Rathaus (New City Hall) is a masterpiece, and I could spend hours just admiring the intricate details! And I can’t forget the Theatine Church (Catholic), with its beautiful dome tops—such an incredible sight.

One of my favorite experiences was strolling through the English Gardens, one of the largest parks in the world. I was amazed to see people surfing in a man-made stream. 🌊🏄‍♂️ I didn't have time to explore the entire park, but the energy and beauty of the place were truly unforgettable.

With over 2,000 photos captured between my phone and Nikon, I’m excited to start sifting through them. Each shot brings back so many memories, and I can’t wait to share all of them with you! If you’re interested in following my photography journey and seeing the beauty of Europe through my lens, please like and share my page! I’m aiming for 2k followers so please share my page with your friends too!

Stay tuned for more adventures and insights from my trip! 📸❤️

My last Melissa Etheridge show on this tour. Ashville NC. It was one of her top 3 performances for me, but not so much, pictures-wise. Sometimes it's the photographer, the equipment, (my phone), and the performer that doesn't give you what you're looking for. It was a little of everything this time, but I still love playing around with her photos.

I will never understand why, after all of these years, you can't bring a 35mm camera in. Everything is posted online, and sometimes the entire show is recorded, one would think excellent photos shot of performers as more flattering than crap from a phone. Ugh, rules...

Nature Photography Update: Ruby-Throated Hummingbird! 🌟

Hey everyone! I’m still working on sorting through my vacation pictures, but I just had to share this special moment. I finally managed to capture the elusive adult male Ruby-throated Hummingbird right off my deck!

These little creatures are absolutely mesmerizing and have truly tested my patience and technical skills. Getting them in focus is no easy feat, especially since they never sit still for more than a split second! But despite the challenges, I’m thrilled with how these shots turned out.

I want to mention that there’s been no color enhancement in these photos—what you see is the natural, stunning beauty of these hummingbirds. The only editing done was cropping, so all the vibrant colors and intricate details you see are completely genuine.

I’m still amazed that these tiny wonders came to my back door. I do wish the background had been a bit more picturesque, but sometimes nature has its own plans! Still, I’m incredibly happy with the results and can’t wait to share more.

For those who’ve tried photographing these fast-moving birds, any tips or techniques you’ve found useful? I’m always looking to improve!

Hope you enjoy these little gems as much as I do! 📸

🐦✨ My Hummingbird Journey ✨🐦

I still have so many vacation photos to sort through, but today, I’m sharing something special: my hummingbird photos from this weekend. They technically might not be the best quality. Actually, they are awful, and all of my editing could only do so much, but they mean so much more to me.

During COVID, stuck at home, I started noticing the beauty right in my backyard. I set up hummingbird feeders as well as bird feeders and a bluebird house, and these amazing little birds became a constant presence. It’s been a labor of love, from managing feeders and cleaning them to watching the sunflowers bloom as a thank-you gift from the birds. 🌻

Patience has been key—waiting for the perfect moment to capture these tiny, fast-moving creatures is no easy task. And while the lighting and backdrop often challenge my shots, I’ve come to cherish the photos I have. Each one is a snapshot of my journey, my growth, and my connection with these incredible birds.

The time spent observing them has been a form of therapy, helping me stay grounded and present despite the struggles I've faced in recent years. The next few months will probably be some of the toughest, only a second and a close second to losing my mom, but these moments, no matter how fleeting, have brought me so much peace and joy, especially as the nights get cooler and they often come to fill their little bellies for their long journey to warmer weather. It's truly amazing how long they will fly before stopping to rest. Tybee and I have been enjoying our time watching and hearing them wiz by us at lightning speed.

So here are some of those imperfect photos. They may not be perfect, but they capture the essence of this beautiful journey and the bond I’ve formed with these little wonders.

Thank you, hummingbirds, for making my days brighter and for teaching me the value of patience and presence. ❤️
