I attended an event a couple of weeks ago...

It was a fun event created to get our members together, share photography knowledge and build friendships. About 30 photogs came to the event. It was super cool.

There was no holding cards close to the chest... everyone was very open and helpful. So many of the more seasoned pros were watching the younger folks and offering ideas on posing and techniques!

For most of us, Newborn photography takes place within 10 days of your baby’s birth. They’re ‘new’, right! They’ve just been born.

So to qualify for Newborn photos, all you need is a baby who’s just been born.

The best way to get started creating images of your baby is to realize that your baby is perfect RIGHT NOW! To WAIT for this to happen or that to happen is ludicrous.

You’re waiting for your baby to be perfect for photos just passed… Oh, wait, here’s another opportunity… Oops, there it goes!

I hope you understand that your precious little one is perfect in every way RIGHT NOW! She’s changing every single day so please don’t wait. In a month from now, you’ll see. He was right. I’m so happy that I didn’t wait!

My job is to make people look really good in their portrait. Sometimes that’s cake. Sometimes not. Yet, collaborating with clients is key to the success of the session.

When it all goes right, the artwork that’s created is YOUR FAMILY at their BEST. It’s an enormous compliment when that artwork is displayed in my client’s home.

In my studio, when mom calls to find out about our process for maternity portraits, we start asking the questions that let us know what’s most important to her!

Every lady is different, with unique expectations so we ask a lot of questions. Then we decide how best to move forward.
