Honored to be back as the OFFICIAL drone operator for the Ohio River Sternwheel Festival for our THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. Today we were up over downtown Marietta capturing the levee transformation from above, and the progress is nothing short of remarkable. The new amphitheater seating in front of the Lafayette Hotel is really starting to take shape, and we cannot wait to share more of what we caught from the air.

Every flight we run over downtown Marietta is conducted in Class D controlled airspace, which means we file for and receive FAA clearance through the LAANC system before the drone ever leaves the ground. Today's authorization was issued through Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport (PKB), Authorization Number ALTQHBLZ2FM0. All MOV Drone Workz pilots are FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured, because doing it right matters.

Follow along here for behind the scenes aerials of the levee progress, the 50th Annual Sternwheel Festival, and everything in between.

BEHIND THE SCENES ON THE LEVEE

What you are looking at is the future of Marietta's riverfront. Those curved forms taking shape in front of the Lafayette Hotel are the new amphitheater seating, the centerpiece of a $9.4 million transformation of our levee funded through the Ohio Appalachian Community Grant Program. This project has been in discussion since 1986, and it is finally happening. When it is finished, the levee will be a true front porch for our city, a gathering space designed for everyday life along the river, the bike path and riverwalk, school field trips, weddings, summer evenings, the holidays, and yes, of course, our beloved Sternwheel Festival. The improvements include brand new ADA accessible pathways, regraded streets at Ohio and 2nd, better seating and lighting, underground power lines for unobstructed river views, and 16 new canopy trees. The historic stones are staying right where they belong.

Our city, the design team, and the construction crews are pushing to have the work substantially complete by September 1, which means we will get to enjoy our reimagined riverfront for the 50th Annual Ohio River Sternwheel Festival on September 11 to 13. From the air, it is incredible to see it all coming together.

A huge shoutout to MOV Drone Workz, our OFFICIAL festival drone operators for the THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. Tom and the crew are documenting every step of this transformation from above, and the behind the scenes footage they are capturing is unreal. Follow their page at for aerial views of the levee progress and an inside look at what is coming for our 50th. You do NOT want to miss this.

More of today's drone shots will be dropping in the comments throughout the day. Keep checking back to see every angle of the work in progress.

Flight Information: Today's flight was conducted in Class D controlled airspace under FAA LAANC authorization, with clearance issued through Mid Ohio Valley Regional Airport (PKB). FAA Authorization Number: ALTQHBLZ2FM0. All MOV Drone Workz pilots are FAA Part 107 certified and fully insured.

5 DAYS, 2 HOURS, 30 MINUTES.

That is how long Lenny was missing before we got eyes on him tonight on thermal.

PSA Mid-Ohio Valley ran point on this case from day one. We came in and did what we do. Air support. The dog had crossed the Williamstown Bridge on foot and ended up two miles away in another state on the bank of the Ohio River. Thermal drone picked him up in the bushes. His owner called his name on a three-way call. You watch a small red dot walk straight into the arms of a much bigger red dot.

That is exactly why thermal drones matter in lost pet recovery. Eyes in the dark. Eyes through brush. Eyes when the ground search has no good options left. This case is the textbook example.

Flight conducted under LAANC airspace authorization due to proximity to Parkersburg Regional Airport. Both operators are Washington County drone first responders. Missions like this keep their skills sharp.

Full case story is on the PSA Mid-Ohio Valley page. Watch the thermal rescue video below.

Lenny is home. Glad to close this one with a happy ending.

Lenny is still missing. Check out the PSA tracker on PSA website for more information.. We glad to be one of the preferred operators for this fine organization.

Jeremey from MOV Drone Workz getting in a flight to search for Lenny. Thermals were good. This pup is in flight mode and likely hidden well. Underneath cover. A good qualified thermal drone operator can rule out large areas for us very fast, including fields, roadside, ditches, and more.. The thermal technology these days is absolutely amazing, and MOVDW always leaders in their field.

Sharing from our friends at Pet Search Alliance Mid-Ohio Valley. We have flown two thermal drone searches for Kasey now, one Friday evening and another Saturday morning after the overnight rain gave us near-perfect thermal conditions. We cleared a lot of ground and ruled out a lot of yards and woods, which is genuinely useful, but the dog is still out there.

The search area is the North Hills neighborhood in Marietta, specifically around Colegate Dr, Cisler Dr, Merryhill St, Hillcrest Dr, and Glendale Rd, including the streets near Central Christian Church.

When thermal flights come up empty in conditions that good, that tells us something. Kasey is almost certainly tucked into a covered spot where the drone simply cannot see her. Porch. Patio. Under a deck. Inside an open shed. Behind stacked firewood. Crawl space. Garage that got left cracked. Scared dogs go small, dark, and quiet, and they stay there.

If you live anywhere in North Hills, this is the ask. Walk your property. Actually walk it. Look under the deck with a flashlight. Open the shed. Peek behind the bushes and the AC unit. Check the crawl space access. Look under the porch. If you have a Ring or security cam, scrub the last 36 hours of footage. Even one frame of a white dog passing through gives PSA a direction to work from.

Kasey is not from this neighborhood. She is staying with a temporary caregiver, does not know the area, and is genuinely lost and frightened. She is not going to come when you call. Do not chase. Just note where you saw her, which way she was headed, and call it in.

Tip line is live 24/7. Call or text 740-206-8831, or report anonymously at petsearchalliance.org.
Original post and full case details linked here:

After 12 days missing from the North Hills area of Marietta, KASEY HAS BEEN FOUND. Monday, May 5, 2026. She is safe and on her way to a reunion with her owner and a vet check.

The video below is the moment of capture inside our smart Missy trap with remote trigger. More video and the full story to come.

Last evening, a critical tip came in that confirmed Kasey’s location. MOV Drone Workz launched air support and from a high observation altitude, where she could not hear the drone, we were able to watch her from above for roughly an hour and a half. She was quiet, alert, and still extremely skittish. The slightest sound caused her to jerk and dart, which confirmed what we had suspected throughout the search: this dog needed a quiet, no-pressure recovery.

We held our humane box trap on site overnight. Kasey approached it three times but was too shy of the enclosure to commit. With that information in hand, we dispatched the Missy trap system this morning. It was set up by 9 AM. By 11:30 AM, Kasey was secured and in good hands.

She is on her way home.

Thank you, Marietta, and thank you to every person who shared this case, walked their property, checked a camera, sent a tip, posted a yard sign for a neighbor, or pushed this case to a friend in North Hills. Twelve days is a long search. It only ended because the community refused to let it go.

A special thank you to every donor who has supported Pet Search Alliance Mid-Ohio Valley. The Missy trap, the Vosker cellular trail cameras, the air support, the field equipment, none of it exists without you. Today’s recovery is a direct return on the generosity of this community.

If you are not following us yet, please follow, like, and share our page. The bigger our reach, the faster the next case gets solved.

Kasey is a reminder of why we do this work. Search. Rescue. Reunite.

Recovered home safe

If you live in Belmont, West Virginia and you woke up early this morning convinced you were hearing a squeaky ball coming from every direction like thunder rolling out of the clouds… you’re not crazy. You weren’t half awake. That was real.

Sorry if we bothered you. We were just looking for a lost dog.

Her name is Lilly. She is a 10-year-old Yorkie, about 8 pounds, and she’s from Marietta, Ohio, not Belmont, which means she has no familiar ground under her feet. She went missing Saturday morning and has been hiding somewhere in or around town ever since.

At 325 feet up, our drone’s loudspeaker on full blast carries about a mile and a half in every direction. We loaded up the squeak of her favorite toy and broadcast it across the Belmont search zone before sunrise. If Lilly was within earshot, her ears perked up. Sometimes that little jolt is exactly what gets a scared, hidden dog to move, peek out, or make a sound we can track.

So again, apologies to everyone in Belmont who got a very strange wake-up call. Thunder from the clouds it was. Squeaky ball thunder, to be exact.

PSA’s full post on Lilly is in the comments. Give it a share if you’re anywhere in the Mid-Ohio Valley. A single pair of eyes in the right backyard is how these cases get solved.

Sistersville Ferry | April 12, 2026

Some history doesn’t sit in a museum. It floats on a river, carries your car across, and has been doing it since 1817.

The Sistersville Ferry has been connecting Sistersville, West Virginia and Fly, Ohio on the Ohio River for over two centuries, making it one of the oldest continuously operating ferries in the United States and the last remaining ferry on the Ohio River serving West Virginia. Long before bridges defined this stretch of the river, ferries like this one were the lifeblood of commerce, community, and connection in the Mid-Ohio Valley. During the oil boom of the 1890s, Sistersville was a thriving hub, and this ferry was at the center of it all.

On April 9, 2026, that history took a hard hit. The ferry’s tugboat took on water and sank, while the car barge remained afloat. No injuries were reported, but the vessel is now out of commission with an uncertain return date as officials work to transport it to dry dock for assessment and repairs.
We were in the area on April 12 and felt compelled to fly. Because that’s what we do.

At MOV Drone Workz, our mission goes beyond commercial services. We believe deeply in documenting the history, culture, and people of the Mid-Ohio Valley, the landscapes that shaped this region, the structures that defined it, and the moments that mark its story. When history is happening, we want to be there to record it from above.

This one is going in the archives.

The Sistersville community has weathered challenges before with this ferry, and by all accounts they will again. We are rooting for you, Sistersville.

The little dog that we searched for a couple of days ago with the thermal drone has been captured by PSA and is at the Humane Society of Ohio Valley. He’s been running that area for about seven days now. Slipped away from a rehome situation.
