Courtney Wilson

Courtney Wilson photographer & adventurer based in Arizona but I can typically be found wandering the west coast Hello! I’m a photographer based in Phoenix, Arizona.

After moving from the midwest all I wanted to do was explore my new desert home… and everywhere else. So, that’s what my camera and I have been doing ever since. I grew up around photography. When I was younger I was constantly using my dad’s studio or running around my backyard with my friends and a Canon Powershot. Honestly, not much has changed except both my backyard and camera are quite a bit

bigger now. When I’m not hiking, climbing, camping or otherwise being outdoors you can probably find me at a coffee shop drinking iced coffee by the gallons or at home, cuddled up with my cats, binge watching whatever tv series I’m into at the time. All fun facts aside, photography is such a huge and important part of my life. I love that I can incorporate my love for photography into my love of being outdoors and traveling. I love that it’s driven me to travel thousands of miles over the last few years and to experience things I could have never dreamed of before. NFTs here:

the wildflowers are out! it’s my favorite time in Arizona. 🌼

if you go out to see the flowers, PLEASE remember to leave no trace! This means don’t walk in patches of flowers and don’t pick them so that others can enjoy them after you. Wildflowers are delicate, and when they get walked on they may not grow back in that spot for years, or ever again.

All of these photos were taken from trails, parking lots, or durable surfaces like rock. Photos taken from low angles can get you pictures like these, where the subject is surrounded by flowers but is actually not disturbing them at all (:

thinking back to a day where I sat on the roof of my car in 116° heat watching hundreds of wild horses on the side of the highway as the sun went down. I just saw this on my way home from work and was SO happy I had my camera with me that day.

I moved to Arizona 9 years ago today after only visiting one time. As scary as it was to move 1,200 miles from everything I knew, I am forever grateful to past me for making that choice. I’ve met so many amazing people, gotten to explore this beautiful state, and I can’t imagine what life would be like if I weren’t here. 🌵

2025 in photos

I took a lot of time off from posting this year, way more than I ever have. Life got hard in the beginning of the year and my desire to share anything was at an all time low. But, I was still out chasing sunsets, aurora in the desert, lightning, and more. So, here are some of my favorites from this year — some you’ve seen, some you haven’t. I hope everyone has a fun and safe New Year’s Eve and that next year is great for you 💖

Seeing the aurora in the desert never gets old, but this was easily the brightest out of the three times I’ve seen it this far south. It was crazy seeing the sky light up to a deep red, and it was even cooler seeing a few shooting stars in the mix. Hoping the clouds cooperate tonight 🤞🏻

Monsoon season has been good to me this year 🖤 Lightning, rainbows, dust storms, and most importantly: desperately needed rain. Here’s to hoping the rest of the season stays wet & that continues into the rest of the year!
