I HAVE A SECRET TO SHARE WITH YOU...

Your family is perfect, just as it is.

It doesn't have to fit a mold.

It doesn't need to be like the other families.

Your kids are uniquely themselves, and that's a beautiful thing.

We need to normalize this.

Not the perfectly curated posts. Not the cookie cutter families. That's all well and beautiful and stuff. I dig it too. But most of the time? That's not real life. 

Give me your spirited kids, your unique kids, your think-outside-the-box-can't-keep-still-kids.

THAT'S what I find interesting.

Because perfect is a lie.

Give me real, raw, unfiltered, any day of the week.

I'm not a perfect photographer, and I don't want to be. I embrace the grain, I LOVE the movement and the blur and the technically wrong stuff. I seek it out, unabashedly, and I run with it.

So please, don't every shy away from making portraits of your family because you're not "ready" or they are not "perfect".

Because I will be here, waiting for you to come around and join my circus of imperfection, so we can play together and document your perfectly imperfect family.

Who wants to play "Spooky Season" with me??? 👻🎃🍂🍁

This was one if last year's projects, stay tuned for more 👹.

Last year I focused on Boo-doir and Spooky Sisterhood.This year I am thinking I will do a solo female gothic vibe session, and possibly a spooky couple.

The best moments often stem from happy accidents 🍂🙃☺️.

I will always remember this moment right here. My dear friend and fellow artist Gretchen Nevin and I planned out this elaborate styled creative photo session, "Sad girl at the train station", when things took a turn. Suddenly our model/her little girl became overwhelmed with REAL sad emotions, who can say why? But she was in her FEELS.

Some might call it a failed creative session?

I call it GOLD. Look at these beautiful, authentic moments here. Of a little girl, in her feels. Of a mama-tographer, being her safe space and comforting her, and also trying to see if art could be made, while respecting her daughter's feelings. She handled it with the grace only a mother could have.

One of my favorite Fall moments ever of all time.

The Fall Mini Session is 30 minutes, 6 beautifully edited images, $350.

The Fall Small Session is 60 minutes, 15 beautifully edited images, $450.
A 50% retainer holds your spot, with the balance due one week before your session.

If you've been sitting with this, letting it live in the back of your mind as a "maybe later" - this is me, gently, asking you to let it be a now.

Because October 23rd is going to come either way. And I would love for you to be on the other side of it with something real and beautiful to hold onto.

Fall Family Sessions are open NOW through October 23rd, Tuesday through Thursday at golden hour, with some Friday and weekend afternoon availability woven in. Spots at each location are limited (Coral Springs & Davie), and they fill in the order people say yes.

That's the whole of it. No tricks, no manufactured countdown. Just a real season, with a real end date, and a real number of families who will get to be in it.

The year your toddler is obsessed with wearing rain boots with everything.

The season your family looks exactly like this - this size, this age, this particular beautiful chaos.

None of it waits. You already know that. You've probably felt it more times than you can count, that bittersweet ache of realizing you didn't get a single photo from a whole chapter of your life because you kept meaning to and then the chapter closed.

Your furbaby is welcome too (leashed, with a handler - and yes, absolutely counts as family 🐾). Your kids don't need to be still. You don't need to have it all figured out. You just need to show up, and I'll take care of the rest.

No, I still haven't caught up on sleep or brain function since this birth last week...BUT I have had the chance to edit some photos and share with the new little family. This was such a joyous and funny birth, we laughed, we cried, it was better than Cats (IYKYK)!

Forever grateful to Serene Health OBGYN & Wellness | Broward, FL and especially Ashley Mary Bluestein for your incredible patience and support...this one took a village for sure!!! And to my new bestie, nurse Lanie, who is a complete gift to the planet and birthing world...
WE COULD NOT HAVE DONE THIS WITHOUT YOU! Your voice and laughter will forever be in my head!

I'm sitting here staring at my computer after a long birth, recovering & recharging my batteries, literally and figuratively. I remembered this word that I thought my son Felix had invented when I first became a Doula and he was little. I would come home so depleted after not sleeping for a few nights after a birth, and I was supposed to come home and resume all my momly, homely, & business duties. It stayed with me and it's the perfect word to describe that feeling. I was today years old when I learned it was actually first recorded in 1605, & its a real word in the dictionary!

Only a fellow birthworker could truly understand the exhaustion you feel after supporting someone in this incredible transitional phase for days at a time. It literally depletes you to a level that is indescribable. I've learned to just take that first day at home afterwards super easy and not expect much of myself. Recharge and replenish in whatever way feels good, zero judgement on whatever I eat or drink. Ordering in is required, and I'm just basically putting out the fires I missed for the days while I was gone. I focus on rescheduling all the appointments I had to cancel last minute on those days, trying to figure out where I left off on the projects I've been working on. Trying to find my footing in the world again.

That is, after a pre-bed cocktail when I finally get home in order to celebrate the new life that joined us, and a toast to the new parents 🥂. And a nice, long, overnight sleep in my cozy bed😴💤.

Birth is a never a straight line. It's a dance, a labyrinth, a whirlwind, a puzzle, a mystery, a wild card.

Yesterday I sat and witnessed 6 pregnant mamas at their Blessingway, as we all talked, laughed, shared, carried on some traditions and rituals to help prepare them mentally and physically for this transition.

2 years ago today, I was at this (very long!) birth with alllll manner of stops and starts and twists and turns.

Today I have been sitting, texting, chatting, hyping, an educating my current birth client whose waters released earlier today and they have been navigating their own personal labyrinth. They are at the hospital, doing the dance, and I am here, waiting to be called in. 

Same hospital as 2 years ago. Same provider. Same date.

Happiest of Birthaversaries to this beautiful family pictured here. I am honored to have been a part of your story. And mad love for Serene Health OBGYN & Wellness | Broward, FL for always supporting our birthing community with such patience and grace.

Once upon a time....I was pregnant, and I loved photography, I used to stalk the website and group here on FB and IG, dreaming of being able to document birth photos and the surrounding stages like a pro. After a few years postpartum, I worked HARD, studied, practiced, bought courses (I never stop buying courses and learning, I can't help it), I subsequently became a Doula and REALLY learned the ins and outs of birth. Then slowly, softly, I started bringing my camera to births if Moms would allow me to, just to practice and just for them.

Fast forward to 16 years later....and all the hard work and dreaming pays off. I am forever grateful to that beautiful community, which I'm still a big part of, but now I'm proud to say that I've won a few epic awards there, my artwork gets featured there, and it's just turned into the best full circle moment.

Forever grateful for Monet Nicole Moutrie and Jennifer Rainey Mason who have been such an inspiration, and always helped out with any questions and support and guidance. They were my gateway drug to birth photography and it's never gotten old!
