The deer were moving this weekend, with lots of calls coming in for recoveries. We ended up finding 4 out of 5, with all of them being recovered. We set a new personal record of the farthest a deer traveled when we located them, being about .85 miles. Time after the shot ranged from 5 hours to about 28 hours.

Well, our current success rate is over 100%. 🤠
On Saturday morning we found a good buck, with what looked like a good shot placement, but after seeing him at roughly 12 hours and 24 hours, it looks like the deer is going to live.

And then last evening we were on a call where the hunter stated that he was unsure of the shot, and didn't have much blood, and he just wants to be sure. And that while I'm in the area he would have me check out an area where they had been smelling something dead, and thought it might be a doe that was shot a week or so ago. But as it turns out, it was a buck his buddy had shot 3 weeks ago almost half a mile from where it was found. Decomposition produces an amazing amount of heat!
As for the deer I was called out on, he was still alive, unfortunately, and we were unable to recover him.

So while the outcome was not what they hoped for, they were extremely happy for the answers we were able to provide!

With Wisconsin's gun opener coming in over the weekend, calls were coming in. We ended up going 3 for 3 overnight, with one of them not having expired yet. Hopefully we'll be able to locate him tonight after he expires!
