We’re coming up on the anniversary of this special morning at Snoqualmie Falls with David and Marcus💘 Tender love, killer outfits, sweet cuddles, a slug on a camera, rings on rings and fun fringes and two very different manicures- we really had it all.

Happy Earth Day, friends!

I wanted to take this opportunity to talk more about my values and how environmental sustainability is built into my business. I could write an essay about it, but let’s stick with the highlights, yeah?

🌱 I’m a co-founder of a sustainability organization for wedding professionals called
♻️ I’m a carbon neutral business through non-profit I interned with in college called
🌲 I’m part of the alliance for responsible nature photography
🌎 I’m a certified aware photographer– I took a course and everything!

I also have a degree in environmental sustainability, and do my best to practice a low-impact lifestyle! I’m not perfect, and sometimes I feel a bit stubborn when it comes to the emphasis on individual action that distracts us from the fact that 100 companies are responsible for 71% of greenhouse gas emissions, but I still tread lightly wherever and whenever I can and encourage those around me to do the same💚

I hope you’ll join me in celebrating our Mother today, and remember that weddings can be both beautiful and sustainable!!

Happy #420 lovelies! And remember that your wedding day can be whatever you want it to be💚

Anh & PJ had a ceremony full of equal parts quiet, happy tears and big belly laughs. It was a low-key afternoon in Snoqualmie that sticks with me thanks to the love overflowing from their guests and these stunning outfits, which I rate a 100/10.

These photos show a perfect example of why I love weddings so much– I can’t help but get swept up in the unbridled emotion that overflows during the ceremony. I think these feelings are what life is all about, I think that we all live for these moments where it’s all almost too much. The love, gratitude, disbelief, overwhelm, giddiness, pride, humility, or whatever it is that you might feel during your ceremony, whatever feelings threaten to burst out of you as you pledge yourselves to one another… I feel so lucky to bear witness to it all💖

You all loved last week’s post highlighting different views of Mt. Baker, so here’s another favorite viewpoint in the area, this iconic bridge! The stone arch, the flat peak in the back that locals recognize as Table Mountain, the way the snowpack (obviously) changes the view.. it all reminds me of my favorite phrase I picked up in Thailand on my first visit- same same, but different.

As an artist, I find this spot a little bit tricky to shoot at! I have to be super aware of my composition so that I’m able to get all of the important background views while making sure that you, as the couple, are still framed as the star. With different snow and lake levels and colors and shapes behind my subjects every time I visit, not to mention different lighting conditions throughout the day, I always have to dance around a bit to make sure that nothing is cutting through your heads behind you while still getting the overall shot that I want to create. The trail that I’m on is pretty narrow, so there’s also the extra challenge of trying to change my angles while making sure that I stay on trail in order to Leave No Trace! It may seem like my job is all vibes while we’re hiking together but my mind is working hard to make sure that you’re getting the art you deserve🤝🏼

I love the diversity of views we were able to enjoy for Joanna & Sean’s sunset portraits as their elopement day came to a close💕 we had already hit multiple locations, hiked to a fire tower, and enjoyed 360° views during the day, but when the light is so soft and dreamy, it’s nice to have mountains all around you to enjoy as dusk settles in🥰

Mike & Gianna had the most perfect afternoon exploring the beaches of northern Oregon, dipping their toes in the water, exploring little seaside caves, and twirling about to make Gianna’s fabulous dress spin! We had such a blast doing nothing but exploring the coastline for their Ecola State Park elopement– a simple afternoon together with nothing to do and nowhere to be, just time to spend together on their wedding day💖
