🐾 BENTLEY UPDATE 🐾
Well we aren't even sure where to start but we know we are worried.
Since arriving back to us, Bentleys health has been declining. He has a persistent cough that is increasing daily.
We pulled his medical records from his previous adopters which were beyond concerning to us. The records indicated a heart murmur (over a year ago) in addition to his collapsed trachea. The adopters declined heart meds and any follow up diagnostics that were recommended. 😡 When they returned him, they indicated his cough was worse but claimed they didn’t know why. Why would anyone in their right mind do that? Selfishness is our only guess.
You can't claim to love an animal yet refuse them needed medical care.
Bentley has now seen 3 of our rescue vets within 1 week. One visit requiring him to be hospitalized overnight to remove fluid from his lungs. (Now started on lasiks to help maintain.)
He has had numerous xrays, an echocardigram & bloodwork. Yet he still has a struggling cough which causes distressed breathing.
As of lastnight he has now been started on steroids, cough suppressant & continued heart meds.
Right now, it's a waiting game. We wait to see if he responds to the medicine regimine.
We pray that we find the answers needed & we can get him stabilized. But we are worried, to say the least. Our hearts are breaking as we see him struggle. He doesn't deserve this. 💔 If his quality of life continues to decline then we will need to make some hard decisions.
We truly believe his medical issues would be very different right now had the previous adopters provided him the medical care he needed. We are disgusted & furious that he's gone untreated. Pi**ed that we requested all medical records & they only provided us with 1 page of his 18 page record. We are disappointed in ourselves for feeling like we have failed him by choosing a family that neglected him. Emotions are running high.
Bentley needs prayers. Lots of prayers! Please keep him in your thoughts & prayers as we continue to navigate his medical journey. 🙏
