What are child-led sessions and why do I love them?

First and foremost, I am a mom and I understand how much these photos mean to you. I also understand that your kiddos might not want to participate in them.... and that's *totally* okay! I don't believe kids should stand still, smile and look at the camera/me for our entire session.

Instead, I love getting the child *involved* in the photos. They wanna play red light, green light? I love it.

An impromptu wheelbarrow race? GREAT!

Did they find a cool rock and want to throw it in the river? Sign. Me. Up.

Do they have a wonderful posing idea? I bet they do! Let's try out their great ideas to genuinely empower and encourage them.

I really believe in letting kids be kids through the session and will be running around like crazy, capturing all of those magical moments in what feels like absolute chaos. My goal is to get the natural smiles *naturally* and capture the adorable looks in all of your eyes as you sneak up on them during a game of tag.

Just as this family does each and every time we meet up, I invite you all to come with the goal of playing together, being silly and adapt/pivot when needed. Let the kids lead the session and I promise you that the photos will be amazing and your session will be much less stressful.

1 - Hello! I missed you all! I hope you're all doing well and are looking forward to the summer.

2 - I'M COMING HOME VERY SOON! And I'm *really* missing doing photography (so you know what that means!).

3 - I feel equal parts proud, honored and ancient, but this year, I reached my TEN YEAR ANNIVERSARY with Jade Vine Photography. Holy heck. It's been an incredible 10 years - full of opportunities and growth in so many ways.
