The Red Admiral
This butterfly was dancing around our garden but wouldn't open his wings for a photo. Took several close-ups that displayed his interesting head with his strange looking antenna that reminded me of a chain on a light switch. But the next day he returned and wasn't so bashful as he allowed me to photo him with wings open. 🙂

Now that I knew what he really looked like I was able to look him up and this is what I discovered. Male Red Admirals patrol their territory by flying around its perimeter between 7 and 30 times per hour. When another male encroaches on its territory, the air battle begins and the one with the exceptional flying ability wins that territory. Because of 'female choice', only males with a territory have the opportunity to mate.
Kind of reminds me of high school where the guy with the ‘cool’ car got the dates. (1960’s) 😉

Prime Time
Yes, if you love looking at flower gardens then this is the week to venture over and see 'Joan's Green Thumb Hill'. It's Free and if you arrive at the right time, you would be offered an adult beverage. This garden takes a lot of energy and loving care which Joan provides in spades. (pun intended) Enjoy the photos, I did my best to highlight her stunning garden and if you would like to hang one of these photos, lets talk😇

Thanks for the memories to all of the wonderful guest who stopped and visited me at STOP #4.
Celebrated my 82nd birthday on July 25 while surrounded by new & returning guest. Birthday cake was a huge success along with many other snacks, thanks Joni.
The oldest guest was Clyde at the young age of 90. He purchased 'Misty Morning' which I was honored to hang for him.

Fire; Smoke; Photography
Sunset was 8:44 last evening and there was thunder in the background as I ventured out to capture a few shots due to the unusual lighting conditions. Joni's garden seemed to 'glow' in this weird lighting. Green colors seemed muted & dull while yellow colors seemed more golden & vibrant. When will this air quality return to normal??????????

A Full House
At times, there were 11 but only 9 overnight. Water skiing; swimming; boat cruising; hot tub; smores; rainbow in Joni's flower garden and lots of real good food!!! Life was busy and so so good BUT I'm in the dog house because I dug up Joni's flower garden looking for that damn 'Pot of Gold'🙂

Another cold day in Manitowish Waters, actually had snow flakes yesterday morning. Looks like warm weather is still waiting to break over the Vilas Mountain Range before arriving. As the attached photo I took this morning indicates, there is snow still covering the top of the Vilas Mountain Range. So, think WARM and make sure you make somebody smile today.
