Oh boy! 🥰 Since moving out of the studio I've been in homes more and I have to say.... I think I've missed it! It's definitely a different vibe ... it's a cozy, intimate, and soooo real vibe. I love the toys on the floor, leftover breakfast on the table, and cartoons on in the background. THIS IS WHAT RAISING THESE LITTLE ONES IS!! oh I love it!

COMING UP! I'm not saying goodbye to beach sessions for the season just yet (I have a couple of evenings left if you're looking for a family or mommy and me session on Lake Michigan!), but I am definitely starting to shift gears for the upcoming fall and winter season. I wanted to let you know of a couple things...

🍂 I'm gauging interest in fall or Christmas tree mini sessions. It has been YEARS since I've done these for the public. So I need to know:
1️⃣ Is there interest in 15 minute minis??
2️⃣ Tastefully themed or natural?
3️⃣ Theme options are apple harvest or Christmas tree.... or both one in October one in Late November?
PS. looking for a tree farm and/or a cute natural place to host these minis. 😄

✨ Lastly.... From October - May I'll be offering 2 in-home lifestyle sessions each month. No travel fees for West Michigan locations between Grand Rapids and Traverse City! Once they are booked they are gone!

One of my favorite things about "in-home" sessions is how flexible they can be... especially in the summer.

Here are some fun ideas for this summer if you're looking to do a lifestyle session in or around your home:

☀️ Make popsicles or homemade lemonade together

☀️ Run through the sprinkler

☀️ Roast marshmallows around a backyard fire

☀️ Pick flowers from the garden

☀️ Blow bubbles in the backyard

☀️ Make pancakes on a slow summer morning

☀️ Read books and snuggle on the couch

☀️ Jump on the trampoline

☀️ Swing in the hammock

☀️ Ride bikes around the neighborhood

☀️ Splash in a kiddie pool

☀️ Water the garden

☀️ Play catch in the yard

Those first sweet little snuggles.

The newborn season can feel long when you’re living it... so many diapers, feedings, sleepless nights… but it ends sooner than you expect. And when it does, it’s hard to believe how fast it passed.

I have specific memories from my childhood that have stuck with me. They’re so simple that I can’t quite explain how or why they’ve stayed with me… but I come back to them again and again.

One moment I remember sitting very still by my grandma’s pool, bare legs on the hot brick patio. Staring down at the bricks, trying to memorize the way the sun felt like a warm blanket... and a little scorching on my back.

The sound of doves in the trees by her house are still one of my favorite sounds.

Those tiny red bugs darting in and out of the cracks (you know the ones we’d squish on our fingertips and pretend we were bleeding… was that just me?).

Cicadas hissing in the distance... though back then I was convinced someone nearby was using a w**d whacker.

When I revisit this moment, I can feel the simplicity of childhood so clearly.

And if I’m honest, it makes me a little sad sometimes. I had no idea then how heavy the world would feel as I got older.

As a mother, I feel a deep responsibility to protect that lightness for my children... to let them soak up every ounce of their emotional freedom while they still can.

The early years ask mothers to slow down in ways nothing else does. Your days feel full... always nursing, always rocking, always changing a diaper, always being needed.

But what if each one is also an invitation to slow down… to notice? What if being pulled into slowness is actually a gift woven into these days that feel so hard? What if these are the moments we only recognize once the season has passed... but we allowed ourselves to embrace them now?

They shape babies, yes.... but they shape mothers, too.
