A few weekends ago we went train watching along the Southern Railway’s famous Rat Hole. We were invited by our friends Wade and Billy for the day trackside and the railroad did not disappoint. We saw heritage units and several trains in the few hours we were trackside. We would travel between Rockwood, OakDale and Spring City for the duration of our afternoon trackside. This is a short peak at the action we captured and look for our long form Videography from this outting coming soon to our YouTube channel.

We hope you all enjoy this look at The famous Rathole!

Happy Trainwatching Everyone! 🚂😁

Caught in the wild by a local railfan. Caught an assignment where this special Operation Life Saver SD40-2 was the leader. So naturally we were rather popular. This was taken just prior to departure after arriving at our power.

As a professional railroader and a fellow ferroequinologist (railfan) I can appreciate all whom enjoy the hobby safely and responsibly. By respecting our crews and property and safely maintaining a 25 foot distance from the nearest railhead.

Trespassing, and unsafe behavior are not cool nor is it usually worth whatever footage or photo you may manage to take. Or if you want to be on the equipment so bad you too can try to get on the job with the railroad. If you have your head and your whits about you. You can be one of those folks who like myself who get to go to work and do what I enjoy. Please don’t voluntarily risk your safety or our while also giving the railfan community a bad name. Trust me it’s not worth it and we do call it in when it is unsafe enough.

To my new friend big thanks to this awesome new photo! It’s kinda neat to be working now in the Industry where I can see fellow Railfans and get paid to do it.

Remember everyone let’s enjoy the trains responsibly! Just like Operation Life Savers Motto “Look, Listen, Live!”

Happy TrainWatching my friends 🚂😁

I don’t normally like to air Drama and usually keep things all about the trains..
But since Facebook/ Meta Continues to fail to take action I will post this here. To explain.

Last week a long time friend of mine reached out to inform me that he had seen a video of mine on another page. Upon investigation it turned out to be a dozen or so of my videos.
While I have had videos stitched with other folk’s content before.. 99.9% of the time they have reached out or credited my content and channel…. Which I consider fair use in that regard. This however is not the case in this matter as this person or more likely Bot is using my likeness, my image, and my intellectual property to Garner viewership and monetary return for his or its channel. We, being my Wife and I have appealed to Facebook/Meta for copyright infringement and intellectual property rights to no avail.

I am very disheartened and disturbed by these decisions of big Tech in regards to this matter, as there was no attempt to alter the original content in the video which intern was flagrantly plagiarized as being this pages content.

I hope you all continue to support and follow my growing channel as an ORIGINAL Railroad Content creator.. Please know that any of my official content is only posted here, or my verified TikTok and YouTube accounts.

Any way enough on the Soap Box I hope all of you have had a better weekend than I, as always Happy train Watching everyone.

Sincerely,
Grayson_TheTrainNut

Penn Central’s “Worms in Love” logo came from the 1968 merger of Pennsylvania Railroad and New York Central. ❤️🐛
The two shapes make a P and C, but people started calling it “Worms in Love” because of how they look together.
It became one of the most recognizable railroad logos ever.
Penn Central was a huge railroad that ran across the eastern U.S.
The railroad struggled financially pretty quickly after the merger.
It ended up filing for bankruptcy in 1970.
Eventually, its railroad operations became part of Conrail.
Years later, Norfolk Southern brought the look back on heritage locomotive NS 1073.
I just think the “Worms in Love” nickname makes this unit even cooler. 😂❤️
Definitely one of those little pieces of railroad history I could actually stop and appreciate. 🚂

No not in the way in the way you think. Probably one of the few times in recent memory that I have seen a coil car running around without its lid.

What interesting things have you seen while trackside railfannning ?
