Things I’m trying to live by this year:
1. Sunset portraits don’t need to happen— if you’re down, we’re down. If you’d rather enjoy the party, that’s what matters. A quick sunset session will enhance your gallery, but embracing every moment is more important than more pictures. I’ll always ask you “IF” you want to go out for a few minutes, but it should never forced 👏🏼
2. High energy— From the second we start pictures in the morning, I request high energy. Some people look at me like I’m crazy, but then they get the point😂
3. Physical prints— you want them? Sure thing. You don’t? Sounds good to me. That’s another thing I won’t force. Everyone’s timeline for printing, and budgeting is so different. I’m ready when you’re ready!
4. Being in the moment— Focusing on little moments throughout the day is really important to me, but I feel like I can do better. From actual details, to grandparents holding hands during your ceremony, the tears, the happiness, the reactions, I really want to grasp it all in every way possible. Not just how I’m used to doing it.
5. Trends— Weddings are constantly evolving. Year after year they get better and better. Photography too. I’m trying as hard as I can to be trendy, while not changing my style!
5. Remembering why I’m here in the first place— I really slack in documenting moments in my personal life. I used to take pictures of everythinggggg. I took my camera on every trip, to the beach or park just for fun, to every family function & holiday. During the past 4 or so years I have really slacked in documenting moments that are actually mine, especially in my son’s life. I get so wrapped up in going from weekend to weekend that I forget to slow down when I’m off and create memories for myself to look back on. I mean I am a photographer mom after all 😅
Overall I’m just really trying to live more in the moment for you & for myself this season by maintaining a good balance of a natural and “posed” approach, being reasonable on all fronts, remaining your shoulder to lean on during this crazy planning process, and bringing good, fun, easy vibes on your wedding day. 🤟🏼
