It is elk calving season and the bears know it and the elk know the bears are out for their young. Unfortunately this calf didn't make it. This sow and cub chased the elk down a steep embankment and the calf fell. We pulled up after the mom stopped screaming for her baby. It's amazing witnessing the National Geogrpahic moments, but it is not for the faint of heart.
