One of my favorite cormorant poses!

After diving and hunting, cormorants will spread their wings wide like this. Their feathers aren’t completely waterproof, so this “wing-drying” posture allows the sun and air to help dry their heavy, waterlogged feathers. Once they’ve warmed up and dried off, they’re ready to take flight and get back to business!

Nature is pretty amazing when you stop and watch.

WHO says you can't bring your dog with you on a wildlife photo shoot?? I've introduced my German Shepard on here before but if you missed it, this is Luna Mae!! She's the smartest, lovable and the most loyal dog I've ever had! We saw the Great Blue Heron first eating on the biggest crawfish I've ever seen, Luna sat and waited for me to do my thing. As we moved up the shore the Killdeer and a Green Heron spotted us and stayed as they watched Luna chase rocks into the river. What a great morning on the Tioughnioga River, Whitney Point.

This juvenile Bald Eagle tolerated the murmuration of these European Starlings! Murmuration is a breathtaking natural phenomenon where hundreds or thousands of starlings (or other birds) fly together in a synchronized pattern mostly to be safe in numbers! What a sight it is!
I hope you all get to see it someday!
