✨ A genuinely jolly day ✨

No stress, a whole lot of cupcakes, and autumn sun bursting through the widows. Ashley & Tyler created a day that felt so good because they created a space where their favorite people could settle in, enjoy each other, and simply be present.

Friends gathered around tables with smoked Chex mix (life changing, truly), conversations bubbling in every corner. The bride’s niece toddled in a tiny dress, captivating every family member.  
Ashley first went to the Gibson Social club for a Taylor Swift party, not knowing that one day she would be exchanging rings with Tyler in the very same space. Chex mix cheers to a full circle moment like this.   Long wooden tables decked with amber bud vases glinted and gleamed in the sunshine. Overheard, warm chandeliers cast the coziest glow, lighting up the joyful moods beneath them.

A micro wedding in an antique store 🕯️

💡They took a few minutes, sitting in the warm haze of the store, to hand write their vows to each other into custom vow books. Guests seated in chairs that were sunbathed in October light streaming down from the overhead window.

🎻A string quartet, dark academia, reception crafts, and fancy & fearless (and their fuzzy guinea pigs) were their vibes.

Most importantly they wanted “a day in the life of”, celebrating all the things that bring them joy, and all the people the cherish most. This day was, most ardently, authentically, them.   The Couple: Leslie Erin & Mike

Brandy Old Fashioned’s on the lawn mower

We’re in crispyyyy season in Wisconsin! The trees lining their local small town golf club are turning a deep yellow, Nick is taking the lawn mower for a final spin, and cozy cookbook soup recipes are lined up in preparation for colder days.

Ali & Nick spend lot of time talking about how they only get to live in this chapter of their lives for a short period of time and wanted to capture that cozy feeling of finding “home” in another person.

They’ve created their own rituals like cocktails at the kitchen counter, Friday fish fries, and conquering sourdough. Regularly, they remind each other of how much they have to be thankful for- and the other person is always on the list.

A magician walks into cocktail hour… 🪄

Nope not a setup for a joke. But a very real, very magical, and very belly laugh forward best day ever for Suz & Jordon. And as for the magician? We still can’t figure out how he did his tricks.   Cocktails were sipped in twinkle lights of a greenhouse brought over from Europe. Loved ones wondered the fields at golden hour. Stone Prairie is magical in and of itself. It’s a place for the little moments that weren’t on the timeline. The unexpected bits of weird and wonderful. The people Suz & Jordon love most being fully themselves. And it all happening under brilliant blue skies and crispy fall leaves? *immaculate*

Our favorite parts?
- The unplanned blended sister and step-dad dance that had everyone in tears
- Jordon’s childhood groom monkey build-a-bear and the bridal bunny one he got for his bride, sharing a seat at the ceremony
- Watching one of the wedding party members chopping carrots in his full suit in front of his Jamaican food truck in preparation for the reception meal
- Parents giving scores on whiteboard scorecards for each wedding party pair entrance
- The magician, of course

A Family Affair: Madison Bookstore Style

Just outside the cool shade of the Madison Capitol building is a warm store front lined with blue shelves and lovingly curated books. On the floor, tucked into a novel, sits Alexis, Gabe, & Arthur.

It’s Alexis & Gabe’s first wedding anniversary. So they packed a picnic (well, Arthur didn’t pack it; he ate the picnic- he’s a pup after all). The leaves above their heads have begun to turn gold, and above the leaves stands the tall, white, columns of the Capitol building.

In a patch of warm sunshine they have their picnic, as a family.

They married at their neighborhood park. The one they love to walk the dogs at together. Under the willow tree whose long branches sway in the wind.

As they slipped rings onto each others fingers, sunlight spilled through the prisms on the windows, casting soft rainbows and triangles of light.

Alyssa and Zach are genuinely two of the most in love human beings we’ve ever met. He couldn’t wait to propose to her, so he called her sister and her husband for permission, got home from work where Alyssa was already in her jamies, and asked her to marry hum.

Their wedding day was just that same combination of depth and joy. We saw it as Zach gently laid a bouquet of flowers on a chair designated to Alyssa’s late father during their ceremony. We saw it as Alyssa clung to Zach’s arm while reading him her handwritten vows. Their relationship is based on unconditional honesty and openness, so it was only suiting that there wedding day was so naturally deeply romantic, candlelight warm, and tenderly intimate.

🌆Tandem bike riding in their neighborhood

💄 Ruby red lipstick, homemade pizza in their eclectic Wauwatosa kitchen, couch cuddles with their pup, and creek hopping. That’s how Katie and Joe welcomed the start of fall.

Perched among the treetops that line their street, their cozy balcony is a favorite spot to slow time down and just be. It’s also Piedmonts (their wrinkle headed pup) favorite spot to roll his orange ball off of and watch it fall ;)

It was there that Piedmont sat, watching Katie and Joe hop on a tandem bike for the first time in their lives, and laugh all the swerving way down the street.

Seattle Lifestyle Engagement with Teresa & Oliver

We spent half a day wandering through Teresa & Oliver’s favorite places, photographing their Seattle engagement session exactly the way they wanted it remembered: not as a production, but as a little time capsule of this season of their life.   In fact, we had SUCH a good time together that their lifestyle engagement session ended up turning into a whole weekend together eating ice cream flights, taking underground tours with them, and chowing down on French fries and seafood.

The most generous human beings to grace this earth live in Seattle. Their names are Teresa & Oliver. Cross paths with them and you’ll be the luckiest people alive. They welcomed us into their home, to see their favorite places, witness their daily rituals, their fav little traditions, and the ordinary BEAUTIFUL moments that make their life theirs.
