Introducing Mr. & Mrs. Newton 🤍🥂

Now THIS is a wedding I’ve been waiting a long time for. When these two got engaged, my immediate thought was, “About damn time!” And honestly, if you know Zack and Abby, you know EXACTLY what I mean by that.

I had the absolute honor of watching this relationship begin and getting to be the one to capture all of their love on one of the most important days of their lives is something I truly can’t put into words how much it meant to me. Like, how lucky am I?!

Abby and Zack have been through so many different stages of life together, even though they’re still so young. They started dating when they were just kids and somehow grew up together, navigating all of life’s changes side by side. They’ve fought for one another, stuck together through the different seasons of life and continued choosing each other along the way. And now, they have a beautiful daughter together and are officially husband and wife. Just think about that for a second. From young love to building a family of their own and finally becoming Mr. & Mrs. Newton. What a beautiful journey these two have had and this is only the beginning.

Abby and Zack, I am STILL so incredibly over the moon happy for you both. I hope you never stop choosing each other, never stop showing up for one another and never forget what it took to get you to where you are today. Life will continue to bring new seasons, new challenges and new adventures but I hope you always face them hand in hand. You two are ENDGAME and I’ve always known that.

Thank you both for trusting me to capture these memories and for including me in such a beautiful day. Everything was absolutely perfect and Abby, you looked SO gorgeous. I genuinely had tears in my eyes watching you get ready to walk down the aisle because I couldn’t believe this day was finally here. After all these years, all the memories and all the chapters you’ve shared together, you were about to marry your person and watch another dream come true. Getting to witness that and capture it for you is something I will never take for granted.

I love you both forever and I couldn’t be happier for the life you’re continuing to build together. Here’s to forever, to a lifetime of choosing each other and to all the beautiful chapters you still have ahead of you.

Vanessa + Brandon 🥂💍

Tis the season for proposals, I’d say!! I’ve been so lucky to be trusted with keeping so many secrets for couples over these last few months but THIS one right here was the first one I was actually nervous for!

Let me tell you a little bit about these two! First and foremost, THEY DON’T EVEN LIVE IN OHIO!! They’re all the way down in Louisiana, which I think is SO fun! How cool is it that they were planning a trip to visit Vanessa’s family here in Ohio and Brandon just happened to stumble across me to photograph this HUGE moment in their lives?! I seriously don’t take that kind of trust lightly and I’m so thankful he chose me to be a part of it all!

Brandon and I had been planning this moment together for quite some time and let me tell you, the WEATHER was not exactly on our side! But when I tell you this man was determined, I mean it! Brandon told me he didn’t care what the weather decided to do, he was proposing to Vanessa regardless. At that point, he knew he was popping the question and a little bad weather wasn’t going to stop him! And honestly, I LOVE that because no matter what the weather had planned for us, we were going to make this moment happen!

Seeing it all finally come together and watching these two absolutely beam with happiness as Vanessa said YES to forever with Brandon was the BEST feeling!

This was my first time meeting either of them and I truly had the BEST time! They were both so incredibly kind, sweet and easy to be around. Also, can we PLEASE talk about how stinkin’ ADORABLE these two are?! And THAT RING??? HELLLLOOOO!!! Brandon, you understood the assignment!!

Vanessa + Brandon, congratulations on this next chapter together!! Thank you both for being so wonderful and Brandon, thank you for trusting me with such a big moment. I’m so happy I got to be there to capture the beginning of this next adventure for you two! ❤️

Now, just let me know when I should pack my bags for Louisiana because I’m already accepting wedding invitations!! 😉

HOW is Amellia WALKING ALREADY?! 😭

I last saw Kelly, Zach & Amellia back in December and I genuinely cannot get over how BIG this little girl has gotten since then!! It feels like no time has passed at all but somehow she’s gone from being my little smiley baby in front of my camera to WALKING around like a big girl!! Somebody tell me how we got here so fast!!

Getting to see these three again for their fall photos made me SO happy! One of my favorite things is getting to see my families again and seeing just how much their little ones have grown since the last time I saw them. It’s crazy how much can change in just a few months and Amellia is the PERFECT example of that!!

I swear, one of the biggest perks of photographing families is getting to watch these little personalities grow! From those tiny baby stages to walking, exploring and keeping mom and dad on their toes, there’s always something new happening! And now I’m just over here wondering how she can possibly be THIS big already!!

Kelly, Zach & Amellia, it was SO good seeing you guys again!! I’m so glad we got to squeeze in another session together because I seriously can’t get over how much Amellia has changed since December! These sessions just keep getting more fun as she gets older and I have a feeling keeping up with her is going to be a whole different story now that she’s on the move!! And mostly, I can’t wait till next time. 🤎

A look into this year’s Howard Hanna fundraiser benefiting the Children’s Free Care Fund at Standing Rock Farms!

This year’s event raised over $9,000 for local children’s hospitals!

This was my second year photographing the fundraiser and I’m so thankful Morgan invited me back! It’s always such a good time and one event that I genuinely look forward to being part of.

🎄 CHRISTMAS TRUCK MINIS ARE BACK! 🎄

It’s officially time to start planning for Christmas photos and I’m SO excited to bring back my annual Christmas truck minis!

These sessions are always a favorite and they tend to book FAST! They are also the ONLY outdoor Christmas mini session option I’ll be offering this year so if you love the classic Christmas truck setup, you won’t want to wait on these!

This year, we’re heading out a little earlier in the season in hopes of getting a little more cooperation from that unpredictable Ohio weather. I’ll be attaching photos of prior year setups so you can get an idea of the colors and overall look when planning outfits for your family.

A few important things to know about Ohio weather:
Sessions will still take place if it’s snowing! I’m hoping for a little milder weather in early November but you truly never know what Ohio has planned. If we have rain, a rain date will be scheduled.

✨ Meet Cali | Madison High School Class of 2027 ✨

Happy Senior Sunday to Cali!

I truly don’t even know where to begin with this girl because I had SO much fun with her!

Cali is a Madison High School Varsity Volleyball player who is already taking classes at Lake Erie College to start working toward her future goals. I just love seeing seniors beginning to figure out their next steps and I’m so excited to see where this next chapter takes her!

For her senior session, we started at Hogback to take advantage of all the beautiful greenery and overgrown scenery before heading over to Arcola for some lake and beachy vibes. I love being able to incorporate different locations and looks into a senior gallery and these two spots were perfect for Cali!

She brought her mom, Luella and her boyfriend, Christian, along for the session and it was so sweet having them there to support her. We even snuck in some photos of Cali and Christian, which I shared in a separate post so if you didn’t see those - definitely go look!

Now, let me tell you about this girl. Cali was SO sweet, bubbly and full of personality. She was up for anything I suggested, made everything feel effortless and had the most beautiful smile. I swear, I could have kept photographing her all day! She is one of those people who makes my job feel less like work and more like hanging out with someone I’ve known forever. And the fact that she absolutely nailed every single photo? Just a bonus!

Luella, thank you for trusting me to capture such a special part of Cali’s senior year! You were an absolute sweetheart and I loved getting to spend some time with you both. Even your little missing keys adventure couldn’t stop us from having a great time!

Cali, I hope you enjoy every bit of your senior year. Take all the pictures, make all the memories, enjoy your volleyball season and appreciate these moments with the people who mean the most to you. This is such an exciting time in your life and I hope the future brings you so many opportunities to chase the things you dream of. You have so much ahead of you and I’m so excited to see what you do with it all!

A gentle reminder that photographers are human, too. 🤍

I think sometimes, in a world where everything is expected to happen quickly, we forget that behind every small business is a real person.

We forget that photographers get sick. We have bad days. We make mistakes. We lose loved ones. We experience grief, anxiety, exhaustion and personal struggles that don’t magically disappear when we pick up our cameras.

Sometimes we need five minutes to sit down after being on our feet for hours. A drink of water. A moment to eat something after spending an entire afternoon photographing your family’s memories. Sometimes an email slips through the cracks, life gets overwhelming or something takes a little longer than we anticipated.

And sometimes, we’re simply trying to navigate life while still showing up for everyone who depends on us.

Because we’re not just photographers.

We’re spouses, fiancés, parents, daughters, sons, siblings and friends. We’re the people taking care of our families, showing up for our children, supporting our partners, worrying about our loved ones, paying our bills, managing our homes and trying to balance a hundred different things that have absolutely nothing to do with photography.

We have entire lives happening outside of the moments you see us working.

And sometimes, those lives get hard.

This season, more than any other in my career, I’ve found myself having to remind people of that. And truthfully, it’s been a difficult feeling to navigate.

Because when you’re a small business owner, so much of what you do is personal. Your business isn’t just somewhere you clock in and out of. It’s something you’ve built with your own two hands, something you pour your time, energy, creativity and heart into. It’s something you sacrifice for, lose sleep over and work tirelessly to grow.

For photographers especially, so much of the work happens long after the camera is put away. The hours of editing, the late nights behind a computer, the emails, the scheduling, the planning, the communication and all the little things that go into making sure our clients receive something they’re proud to have.

And while our clients see the finished photographs, they don’t always see everything it took to get there.

They don’t see the exhaustion after a full day of sessions. They don’t see us editing late at night after our families have gone to bed. They don’t see the personal struggles we’re carrying while still trying to meet deadlines, answer messages and give everyone the very best of ourselves.

They just see the business. And sometimes, I think we forget that there’s a human being behind it.

I will always believe in accountability. I will always strive to communicate, show up for my clients and take my responsibilities seriously. I understand that people trust me with their memories, their milestones and moments they can never get back. That trust means everything to me and I will never take it lightly.

But I also believe that accountability and compassion can coexist.

A mistake doesn’t automatically mean someone doesn’t care. A delay doesn’t mean someone isn’t working hard. And needing a moment to breathe doesn’t make someone any less dedicated to the business they’ve worked so hard to build.

Being professional doesn’t mean being superhuman.

We can take pride in our work and still have difficult days. We can love what we do and still feel overwhelmed. We can hold ourselves accountable without expecting ourselves to be perfect and we can take our businesses seriously without sacrificing every ounce of our humanity to prove it.

Being a business owner doesn’t mean we stop being parents, partners, children, siblings or people with feelings of our own.

And being professional shouldn’t mean we have to pretend that nothing ever happens outside of our businesses.

So, this is a gentle reminder to give people a little grace.

To be patient. To lead with kindness. To remember that you can hold someone accountable while still treating them with respect. To understand that you may never know what someone is dealing with behind closed doors and that a little compassion can go a very long way.

To my fellow photographers and small business owners, I see you. I know how much goes into what we do, including all the things nobody ever sees. Please remember that you deserve grace, too.

And to the clients who have continued to support me, trust me and treat me with patience and understanding, thank you. Your kindness means more than you probably realize.

I will always strive to give my clients the best of me and my business. But I’m also a person. I have a family, responsibilities, emotions, difficult days and a life outside of my camera.

And I think it’s okay to acknowledge that.

Because at the end of the day, we can be professionals without being perfect. We can be business owners without being available every second. And we can be passionate about what we do without being expected to put our humanity aside to do it.

Behind every camera is a person, too. A person with a family, a life, a story and sometimes a lot more on their shoulders than you realize.

A little patience, kindness and understanding can make all the difference. And I think the world could use a little more of all three. 🤍

A little behind the scenes story about these two that I just HAVE to share.🤍

Not long after Alicia booked this session, I got a message from Marcus telling me he had a little something up his sleeve… he wanted to propose to Alicia and asked me to help him pull it off. Needless to say, I was SO excited to be trusted with such a special moment for two people I hadn’t even met yet.

We got together for their session and we had a plan… until Mother Nature decided she had other plans. It started to absolutely DOWNPOUR and unfortunately, it was not letting up. So we called it, went our separate ways and made plans to meet back up the following morning to “finish” their session.

Except… Alicia thought we were just finishing their photos. Marcus and I had bigger plans.

There was even a little behind the scenes teamwork involved. Marcus had actually sent me home with the ring the day it poured so there was absolutely no chance Alicia would find it. So when the moment came, we played everything off, got them into position and Grant discreetly handed the ring back to Marcus.

And then… it happened. 🥹

Marcus got down on one knee and Alicia’s answer was an immediate YES.

I don’t think I’ll ever get over how special it is to be trusted with moments like this. Marcus put so much trust in me to help pull this off and I’m so incredibly glad we got to make it happen even if it took a little rain and a second attempt.

These two are seriously the sweetest and I’m so excited that this isn’t the last time I’ll get to photograph their love story. I’ll be watching it continue to unfold and I’m hopeful one day soon, I’ll be there to capture them saying “I do” at the altar.

Finally sharing some photos from a newborn session with a little boy I had been so excited to meet. 🩵

Everyone, meet the sweetest little guy, William!

He was just about month old for these photos (if I remember correctly) and already SO aware of everything happening around him. And somehow this little man was holding his head up like he had somewhere important to be?! He is one strong little guy!

But honestly, this session meant a little extra to me.

I’ve had the absolute pleasure of photographing Katie and Marcus through such an exciting season of their lives and when I did their maternity session, you could just feel how excited they were to meet their little boy. They were both absolutely beaming and I remember thinking how lucky William was going to be to have them as his parents.

You know how sometimes you meet people and they just have that certain kind of warmth about them? The kind of people you genuinely enjoy being around and feel lucky to have crossed paths with? That’s Katie and Marcus. And now getting to see them in this new chapter, with William in their arms, was just so special.

There’s something really beautiful about being invited back to document these moments for a family. It means so much to me when families trust me once but getting to come back and photograph their growing family is something I truly cherish. I adore this family more than they probably even realize.

Katie and Marcus, thank you for trusting me again and for letting me be a tiny part of such a huge moment in your lives. I’m so grateful I got to meet your sweet boy and capture these first little pieces of his story.

And William… those baby blues?! I’m never recovering. 🩵

He is absolutely perfect and I already can’t wait until I get to see you guys again!
