The big spot on the sun, AR4366, is growing rapidly, already more than 10 times wider than earth! Lots of intense solar activity going on right now. The sun experienced a powerful X8-class solar flare on February 1st. More X flares are likely in the coming days. Keep your eyes to the sky. Well, don't look directly at the sun without protection. That's just dumb.

This morning was a great time to bundle up and practice the old "boiling-water-turns-to-steam" trick. Full disclosure, I was shrouded in my electric blanket indoors during the early hours of the day. This image is from earlier this year (Feb). It was -18° F actual temp and -30° F wind chill. There will be more opportunities to get out there and play.

BIG NEWS!

I am thrilled to announce this year’s official Wisconsin Capitol Ornament features my photography! 🥳 Take a look!

The special edition, featuring a close-up of the Capitol dome surrounded by fireworks, honors the upcoming 250th anniversary of America’s independence.

The ornament makes a great gift and doesn't take up any space at all! 😇

According to the press release, the Semiquincentennial ornament, made in the U.S.A., is for sale at Madison area retailers and easy online access at the Wisconsin Historical Society’s store. As with all previous ornaments, proceeds go to the State Capitol Restoration Fund.

The first such decoration was available in 2004.
