Baby Faces Photography

Baby Faces Photography born in 2007. One Friday night while watching my oldest son play high school football, I casually mentioned to my husband that I wish I could be a photographer. My husband’s response was, “Then do it. All you have to do is learn how to do it.” I thought there’s no way it can be that simple, but as it turns out, it was (with the help of YouTube, lots of books, a couple of local photographers giving me encouragement, and stubbornness). Hubby bought me a camera (actually, I bought myself a camera with his money while he was sleeping), and the rest is history. I have photographed most everything, including a couple of weddings (I’ve shot 3 weddings in 11 years, and I can honestly say IT’S NOT MY THING), however my one true love is newborns. I cannot get enough of them, and it’s the one area where I have patience for days. I’ve been called The Baby Whisperer by doctors, nurses, and lots of parents!

In 2009, I was contacted by the marketing department at Parkway Medical Center Hospital in Decatur, Alabama to photograph a randomly chosen baby each week. I would donate the images to the hospital for marketing purposes, and I would offer the images to the families at a special rate. I am forever indebted to Kami Whorton, CRNP and Tina Weeks for giving me that opportunity because that is where I was truly challenged and my photography skills were quickly sharpened. My photography skills and my love for newborns exploded. Unfortunately, this season ended in 2012 when the hospital was bought out by a larger hospital and the new hospital wished not to continue marketing this area despite all the buzz it created within the community. All of our hearts were broken when this project ended.

The following year, Jamie Willis Photography was established. I photographed children all day everyday and loved every minute of it, but newborns were still my true love. Due to personal reasons (my kids flooded my house and we had to live in a hotel for a month, working night shift, customers haggling over prices, etc.), I stopped doing photography in 2015.

My four year hiatus has ended, and I’m back! I’m rested and recharged and ready to snuggle, cuddle, sniff, and photograph all the newborns. Pass the word, tell your friends, and shout it from the roof tops that Jamie Willis and Baby Faces Photography are back in business!!
