In the process of rebranding and promoting after years of sparse and inconsistent activity on here. It's time.

(does anyone know even use this hashtag anymore?) to when I used to do self portraits. I had a lot of chaos going on in my head and didn’t know how to express those feelings except through photography, but I have since taken a break. I’ve been tempted to do self portraits again but also want to shoot other people because I don’t need to look at myself constantly 😅 . I also feel safer sharing my mind and visions with others and allowing them to create with me.

This series is called Ghosts and it’s from 2015, almost 10 years ago.

It’s June, which means it’s officially berry season! Finally, after a bit of a dry spell of in season fresh fruit comes a time of great abundance. Look forward to seeing more recipes with berries for the rest of the month.

In honor of spring officially starting and Easter coming up, I made garlic mustard pesto and put it on a spaghetti squash that’d been sitting on my counter for a bit too long.

An invasive plant in North America, garlic mustard is vilified by conservationists. I get it, it reduces biodiversity and is toxic for many native animals and insects. However, a good way to get rid of it is to eat it. Unfortunately by the time it’s recognizable, it’s no longer edible and gathering it spreads the seeds; defeating the purpose. Prime time to start looking for it is a week or two after the snow melts and scope out the forest floor for the tiny textured heart-shaped green leaves as shown in the final slide. Make sure to pull out the entire plant, otherwise it will regrow. Also, make double triple sure it’s garlic mustard before gathering so you don’t collect any toxic doppelgängers.

This time I baked Frosted Chamomile Tea Cake from the book Wild Sweetness by Thalia Ho and photographed it by my apartment window. Unlike the last time, the photos were as good as the food itself.

A different angle on the meal I just posted on my reels of this beautiful and delicious roasted lamb with potatoes and leeks that I made and photographed a couple weeks ago.

I’ve been cooking for eight years and I always make the time to have at least one cooking project a week, so I figured why not infuse my passions for cooking and photography together by documenting these projects and sharing them online?

I can confidently say that food photography is harder than it looks and I already know I have a lot to learn, but I’m excited to see (and taste!) what’s to come.

Day 7/8 of posting everyday in February
I’ve been reminded of why I don’t post much on social media anymore. I don’t get the attention I want even though I feel I played by the rules because it turns out I didn’t (pleasing the algorithm seems simple but it’s actually quite complicated). I’m sure I’m not the only one who is prone to equate their worth to how they’re perceived on social media. I used to let it determine my self worth, which is part of why I stopped doing photography for years.

After some growing up and taking a needed break, I don’t let it get me down like I used to. It’s just discouraging sometimes, and I’m not in the most creative mood these days (to say that doesn’t help is massive understatement).

I took this photo back in October and had some fun with it. I used to mimic film photography in Photoshop when I was in college and suddenly wanted to get back into it as well as relearn a lot of skills I lost from taking time off.
