Tim Sweeney, the creator of Fortnite, has quietly become one of the largest private conservationists in the United States and his latest move is his most ambitious yet.
Sweeney has purchased 40,000 acres of North Carolina forest with one purpose: to keep it protected from development. For years, he’s used his own fortune to preserve rare ecosystems, safeguard wildlife habitats, and ensure entire landscapes remain untouched for future generations.
He’s donated land for state parks, blocked environmentally harmful projects, and poured tens of millions into keeping natural spaces wild. This new forest purchase marks one of his biggest conservation steps to date a reminder that meaningful impact can come from the most unexpected places.
