Amy Lynn Creative Hi! I'm Amy, a Madison WI area brand photographer and videographer serving small businesses in Wisco

What if we did more of the things we were bad at? Obviously I’m not advocating for you to go offer a new product or service that’s terrible - excellence in your offering is so important BUT there’s probably plenty of things you’ve been avoiding that won’t make the sky fall if you do them poorly. I realize this isn’t a new concept, just a rehash of “done is better than perfect”, but sometimes I’m kind of a slow learner and need more concrete examples 😅

Also I just realized that I absolutely bought the wrong pattern and I couldn’t get captions to work so we are off to a great start 💀

As mentioned previously, I’m closing my photography business, and as much as I would love to keep all the pretty things, I can’t keep ALL of them! My loss is your gain! Keep an eye on my Instagram stories Thursday and Friday the 15-16th for previews of what will be available! No holds or sales prior to Saturday. Let me know if you have any questions! Cash or Venmo will be accepted at the sale.

I’m closing my photography business.

it’s hard to walk away from something I love.
Something I’m good at.
Especially when I have no idea what’s next.
or even if there IS a next thing.

it was an excrutiating decision to close my photography business, but even as I grieve, I have so much peace about the decision and I’m trusting that God has something better for me.

I have no regrets about starting my business eight (EIGHT!) years ago. Goodness, I was such a baby! I had NO idea how to start a business. It’s tempting to feel like the work i put in was a waste of time but not a second of it was. I’ve learned and grown SO much.

Anyway, on to the practical stuff.

1. This is for real. No Tom Brady retirement antics or GH Bass Store-Liquidation-Sale-for-years-on-end funny business.
2. My website will vanish sometime in the next couple of weeks but I will still be available here or via email if you have any questions at all.
3. My digital products (the brand photo workbook, first impressions workbook, etc) are on sale in the shop til wednesday 1/24 only. After that they are gone forever.)

I’ll still be here on this insta account. I’ll probably keep the handle for now, too. I’ve always shared a mix of personal and biz stuff (when I’m not hiding behind my screen doing the doom scroll) but it will now be mostly personal with entrepreneurial thoughts mixed in. I’d be honored if you stuck around!

This isn’t the last entrepreneurial pursuit, just the first.

Til the next one,
Amy

Absolutely thought I posted more about these sessions on here, but I’m offering one last round of mini headshot sessions at a ridiculous value July 27-29 (over the next three days) before my studio lease ends! I will not be offering these particular mini sessions again.

I agonized over this decision for a few days, and agonized over this announcement for a month.

I signed on this studio share three years ago come August and have dearly loved having a space to stage office settings for my solopreneur clients. It has also been a significant help in the building of my own brand visuals.

I was so loath to give up this space that challenged, taught, and empowered me.

But it was time to stop letting my feelings run my business. So here we are. What does this mean for my clients?

After August 1, I’ll still be able to rent the studio as needed. So if you need a full service headshot session with hair and makeup, we can use the studio for that.

If you need a lovely interior space to have your brand photos in, we will rent or borrow an interior space.

I am not planning to offer any more headshot minis after August 1. To be honest, most of my clients don’t opt to use the studio, which is why I hesitated to announce anything in the first place! Not much is changing on the front end. :). I’m just making sure that all of my business investments are serving my clients well!

Dm me if you have any questions. (And keep an eye out for an announcement regarding one last round of headshot minis in late July.)

Hi, my name is Amy (Lynn is my middle name!) and here’s how I ended up…here…

🟡I grew up in a small town in New Hampshire minutes from ski areas and picturesque hiking trails. (So I’m likely to spout off random facts about trees or the recreation industry on occasion.)

🟡Being homeschooled K-12 gave me a taste of the freedom and flexibility that I’ve been pursuing ever since. (I’ve been training for the isolation of work from home literally my entire life and I LOVE it. Homebody forever!)

🟡I’ve always been a crafty type and the great scrapbooking craze of the early 2000s got me to pick up a camera when I was 13. (Lately I’ve been circling back around to papercrafting and it’s been SO much fun to revisit that creative outlet!)

🟡I went to college for graphic design and then pivoted to interior design, while holding two jobs and a volunteer job. All before I discovered caffeine! (In case you wondered - I spent 4 years at a level of exhaustion I never want to revisit.)

🟡In 2011 I met my future husband while I was volunteering as a horse wrangler at a Christian summer camp in northern Wisconsin. We dated long distance for two years before getting married and moving to Madison WI three weeks after I graduated from college.

🟡I had a camera nearby for most of my college years and I started my business in 2015. Amy Lynn Creative has been growing and evolving every since! I left my traditional day job in early 2021 and self-employment, while it has its downsides, has given me the freedom and flexibility I’ve been craving since those homeschool days. On the sob-into-a-pillow days (more than I’d care to admit), I try to remember that 15 year old me couldn’t dare to dream that where I am is even possible, let alone dream of the things 31 year old me dreams about!

I might be biased but all of my clients are truly the actual best. That said, I love celebrating with clients when they get some local recognition of their awesomeness!

‘s Best of Madison results came out today - congrats to for winning Gold for Best Cleaning Service and for winning Silver in the Best Artisan Food Product category as well as Bronze in the Best Experiential Fun category (cookie decorating classes)!!!

Primavera did a full brand photo and video session on location earlier in the year and Vicki came to the studio for a celebration session!
