Day Without Immigrants - 2026
“A day for solidarity, truth, and power!”
On May 1, 2026, several thousand people gathered in Madison for A Day Without Immigrants, joining over 3,000 nationwide events demanding an end to ICE terror. Organized by , the rally brought together labor unions, socialist organizations, faith leaders, students, and elected officials. After an opening program at Library Mall, marchers proceeded to the Capitol, where speakers included Mayor Satya Rhodes-Conway, County Executive Melissa Agard, State Rep. Francesca Hong, Judge Everett Mitchell, and students. For immigrants, publicly gathering required courage amid ICE violence and raids.

No Kings - Madison - 3/28/26
An estimated 10k marched in Madison’s third No Kings! protest, joining millions nationwide opposing the Trump administration. People rallied at Brittingham Park before marching to the Capitol, where speakers, including Paul Smith, Sinceree Dixon, Ajak Johnson, and The Honorable Reverend Everett Mitchell, called for sustained action beyond single-day protests. While the permitted march ran smoothly, the true test will be whether participants answer the call for disruptive, sustained action rather than performative protest—echoing John Pavlovitz’s demand to “wield our collective power.”

Fight Like Hell Rally
Madison, WI
2/22/26
NALC branches nationwide held “Fight Like Hell” rallies on February 22, demanding a fair contract for letter carriers. The National Association of Letter Carriers, representing 295,000 members, argues their work has become harder—handling more parcels, working in all conditions, facing safety threats, and delivering to 169 million addresses daily. Despite this, 55% of non-career carriers leave within a year due to low pay. NALC demands higher wages, shorter paths to top pay, full benefits from day one, and fair treatment. Support is essential to keep USPS free from privatization.

Over 500 students braved single-digit temperatures to rally in Library Mall at UW-Madison, demanding a sanctuary campus and ICE out of the Midwest. Madison Students for a Democratic Society organized the event to voice concerns about ICE and Border Patrol agents coming to campus and called on the administration to keep agents off campus. Speakers from SDS, Voces, YDSA, and Wisconsin Bail Out the People Movement urged organization and solidarity. Bobby Gronert from YDSA captured the message: “If you want a savior, look to your left and right. Only we can save ourselves.”

Emergency Action - Stop ICE Terror
Wisconsin State Capitol

Nearly a thousand people gathered at the Wisconsin State Capitol to protest the murder of Alex Pretti by Border Patrol agents in Minneapolis. Pretti, an ICU nurse, was shot after helping a woman being brutalized by agents. Speakers from Voces de la Frontera, CODEPINK Madison, DSA Madison, and State Rep. Francesca Hong called for organizing and union membership to fight authoritarianism. Nine people have been killed by ICE in January 2026 alone, yet media attention has focused on the two white victims. All nine lives matter equally and demand justice.

Student Walkout to Protest ICE Actions

Madison,WI
1/14/2026
Following the murder of Renee Good by ICE agent Jonathan Ross on January 7th and ICE agents confronting students at Roosevelt High School in Minneapolis, school walkouts spread across the country. Madison East and West High School students marched to the Wisconsin State Capitol for a speak-out against ICE, joining peers nationwide protesting an administration that shows disregard for their future. As a parent of a participating student, the pride mixed with sadness was overwhelming—children shouldn’t have to protest a fascist future.
