Huntsville Photographic Society's monthly competition was last night with the theme being Architecture. My photo of the New River Gorge bridge in West Virginia covered in fog during fall received an Honorable Mention in digital color. Here are all 4 entries - 2 color prints, 1 digital color, and 1 digital black and white. Next month's theme is portraits of people.

Huntsville Photographic Society's monthly competition was tonight with the theme being Close Up/Macro photography. My photo of a bunch of crisp $5 bills received 3rd place in black and white digital. In a sea of flower and bug photographs, my photo caught the judge's eye. I really enjoyed the judge, it was his 1st time judging for us, he was great, and offered insight into his selection process. Next month's theme is architecture...

Huntsville Photographic Society's monthly competition was tonight with an open theme, which meant anything goes. I entered four photos, two color digital, one black and white digital, and one color print. My color photo from Patagonia in 2019 received an honorable mention, as did my black and white photo of an airplane at the Decatur airshow last year. Once again, it was a tough competition with lots of great photos entered! The judge was great as well.

Huntsville Photographic Society's monthly competition was last night with Patterns as the theme. I entered four photos, one color digital, one black and white digital, one color print, and one black and white print. My color print of the Bentonite Hills in Utah received an honorable mention, as did my black and white print of the Utah Badlands. Both were taken with my drone! Once again, it was a tough competition with lots of great photos entered!

Huntsville Photographic Society's first competition of 2026 was last night with Leaves/Petals as the theme. I entered four photos, two color digital, one black and white digital, and one color print. My color print of Alum Hollow Falls in Fall placed 2nd in color print with no other photos placing. It was a tough competition, around 90 color photos in all entered, and around 75 black and white photos. Very happy with the results!

Huntsville Photographic Society's July competition was last night. The theme was Open which meant any type of picture was welcome -- landscapes, birds, flowers, portraits, etc.

At the end of the night I walked away with 3rd place in color print for my photo of Derwentwater in the Lake District of England, October 2024!!

Huntsville Photographic Society's June competition was last night. The theme was Scenic North Alabama/Southern Tennessee, and I walked away with 3rd place in color print for my Downtown Huntsville church photo, and a 3rd place in color digital for my photo of Lake Ocoee!!

Huntsville Photographic Society's May competition was last night. The theme was Botanicals (plants), and I walked away with 1st place in black and white digital, and an honorable mention in color digital!!
