Yesterday (10/16/2024), the City of Madison announced a 1 year closure of Mill Rd between Balch Rd and Red Oak Rd for "ditch improvements". The ditch in question runs for approximately 1/3 of a mile, prompting residents to ask "WHY?!". Many were shocked and dismayed by the lack of notice and confusion on why the improvement of a drainage ditch requires the closure of a major thoroughfare to be closed for 1 year.

This is where Kid's Kingdom Playground stood for 20 years. In September 2022, it was closed as part of a plan to demolish and replace it with a brand new inclusive playground. Original plans had the new playground in place before spring 2023, but today Madison residents received news that there will be a delay due to weather, staffing, and material delay issues.

Many children made memories at this playground and we're sad to see it go, but I am hopeful that the new playground will offer a chance for more to kids to access and enjoy this area.
