Recent pet portraits!! Get yours now while they’re still $25!

When I first launched these pet portraits, I wasn’t sure how popular they would be, so I started them at $25, which is quite low for a custom pet portrait, even at this size. They have been incredibly popular, which makes me so happy!! I’m currently working on completing 17 more!

After creating quite a few of these, I’ve realized I want to make sure I can continue creating high-quality drawings while keeping the price fair and sustainable for me as the artist.

I started these portraits because I wanted to offer a more affordable option for a custom pet portrait without the price of one of my larger paintings. Because of that, I’m only raising the price to $35 to keep them as accessible as possible.

The new price of $35 will begin August 17th. If you’ve been thinking about getting one, now is the time to order for only $25!

Border wall construction has began in Big Bend National Park. This construction is not only destroying national park lands, but also severely harms the animals within the region. Not only do many animals call the trees and shrubs home, but this construction will cut off access to the Rio Grande River for many animals. This is a vital water source.

Changing landscapes may be easy for humans to adapt to, but it is extremely harmful for the wildlife. Many animals will die before their species learns to adapt to the new changes.

I urge you to watch this video because it shows how confused the animals are now that there is construction in their home. This mama and her baby rely on the landscape to stay safe from predators and help them navigate, it is now being destroyed.

This administration is by far not the only one to do damage to the environment. However, this administration has done an ungodly amount of harm within this term. My business focuses on wildlife and preserving the beauty of it. So I will make it clear that what I think this administration is doing, is completely abhorrent and breaks my heart.

I don’t make much money as an artist and sometimes that’s hard. But I would rather struggle to make money my whole life and make art to inspire joy and love for our natural world, than feed into corporate greed and destroy it.

There is so much wealth in this world that isn’t money, connections with family and friends, love, nature and all of its animals, etc. If money is more important to you than that, well maybe you need to reflect.

I urge you to donate to your local conservation groups or volunteer with them. Big Bend might not be in your backyard, but there will be and have been times where yours is threatened.

Art Fair on the Square completed!!

I am happy to report that my first year as an emerging artist at Madison Museum of Contemporary Art ‘s annual Art Fair on the Square was pretty successful! I met a lot of great people and saw so much cool art and learned a lot as well!

We also raised $165 for the Aldo Leopold Foundation !!!! At my booth, I had a station where for any amount of cash, anyone could make their own art print with stamps I had carved. Whatever cash was made from this, I said I would donate 100% of it to Aldo Leopold to support local conservation efforts in Wisconsin.

If you know me and you know my art, you know I love wildlife (especially birds) and I love to support conservation in any way I can. Since the Industrial Revolution, wildlife habitats have be rapidly decreasing. This has caused many species to go extinct/become endangered. Luckily, with the help of convincing from Aldo Leopold, Teddy Roosevelt implemented stricter conservation laws and opened up 5 new national parks. Not many years, later the National Parks Service was founded.

Unfortunately, even over 100 years of efforts, America has consistently passed laws favoring companies that harm the environment and removing their restrictions to increase profit. Over the last year alone, our government has defunded the NPS, harmed the Migratory Bird Act, allowed tons of data centers to pop up with little to no restrictions, and just a few days ago rolled back significant protections under the Endangered Species Act.

I believe the wealth of this world is not money and greed, it’s the beautiful planet we live on and the connections with our loved ones. Humans are animals and are meant to live alongside everything else, not destroy it.

Sorry for the rant, but the recent actions by our government a few days ago has had me a bit down and I’m really happy we were able to raise money to help even just a little bit!

Thank you to all my friends and family that came out to see me, I love you all. Thank you to anyone to purchased from me, it made me feel so much more confident to be there and like I could fit in with all those other amazing artists!

New painting!! I am getting ready for the Art Fair on the Square this upcoming weekend so I am finishing up some paintings to have out.

This 11x14in painting was inspired by a photo I took! A bit ago, I was driving past Monticello and parked on the side of the road to take a picture of a Kestrel. When I looked to my side, I noticed the cows on the nearby farm got curious and came right up to the fence to say hi! Not only that, but I managed to capture a photo of two cows next to each other that also had tags with numbers right after the other :)

In my head they are best friends, which is what this piece is called, "Best Friends".
