It's been a little while! I've moved halfway across the US, started a new job, and have been getting settled in. Life has been busy, and getting out to take pictures has been hard. But I'm putting forth the effort to make sure I continue to keep it going! Let's hope to see many more posts coming through this page in the next few months.

In The Thick Of It
------------

As we pass by more and more one-year milestones relating to this pandemic, the toll it has taken on me, and my loved ones, and everyone going through these same difficulties has become apparent. The nature of my day job has changed so there is less time for weekend trips, long drives to new locations, and a change solely in the energy available just to get up and GET OUT. It’s a struggle to engage the creative part of the brain when it’s saturated with “wake up, work, home, laundry, dishes, get groceries while avoiding anti-maskers, sleep, repeat.”

I hope the vaccine roll-out has helped and continues to help relieve the struggles and stressors of all of us who have been wrestling with mental health through the pandemic. I know it has for me.

Here’s to more outdoor adventures with soon!

Overgrowth

I find that I struggle with low light photography. It's difficult to capture the detail our eyes can see and balance all of the other technical aspects that go into a well-exposed photo. This photograph took quite a bit of tuning in Lightroom to really pop, but I am very pleased with the results.

This Onward Reach

I recently found a great deal on a 35mm film camera (Minolta X-700 for you gear nerds out there). Figured it could be a good learning experience, growing edge, and a way to train some different photography "muscles". This is my favorite image of the rolls I recently had developed and scanned.

Sometimes work and life get a little busy so it gets hard to have the time and energy to even take photos, much less process and edit them. It's been a crazy couple of months, but things seem to be settling in recently.
