A native of New Jersey, I have called Louisiana, specifically Baton Rouge and New Orleans, home for the past nine years. Although South Louisiana is home, I travel often to the beautiful (and photo op rich) country of Belize. I am a novice photographer but my love of photography runs deep. I begged for and received my first camera in kindergarten. Since then I have loved taking pictures. Every tim

e I flew home from college at Florida State University, I would buy a travel magazine, pour through the pictures while on the plane, and then, upon my arrival in Philadelphia, announce that I wanted to be a travel photographer when I "grew up." Needless to say, my parents were not so receptive to the idea of me abandoning my other dream of becoming a Mergers & Acquisitions attorney. Fast forward about 20 years. I fulfilled my dream of being a Mergers & Acquisitions attorney long ago. I also fulfilled another dream of becoming a Professor of Law, which has been my job for the past seven years. But my college dream of taking pictures with a "real camera" (aka, a DSLR) went unfilled until early 2015. While taking iPhone pictures of a beautiful Belizean sunset, I met a photographer who said I had "a fire in my eye" for photography. So I returned to the United States, bought my first "real camera" (a Nikon D5500), and then promptly signed up for lessons as I had no idea how to take pictures in manual mode! After seeing some pictures I took, my photography teacher, unaware of my college dream, said, "You should be a travel photographer." She encouraged me to start a website and a blog to share my photography. I hope that you enjoy my site. I also hope that my story reminds you to never forget your dreams. happy sunsets, love, and wanderlust!

I spent three days earlier this week visiting the puffins on Machias Seal Island which is 10 miles off the coast from Cutler, Maine. Here’s a shot from this past Tuesday.

I’m going to anthropomorphize here but I love the side eye this White Morph Reddish Egret appears to be giving me. I can’t help but think, “whatcha talkin’ about, Willis?” Isla Holbox, México, 2019.

Great Egret, Isla Holbox, México, January 2020 || I spotted this Great Egret on a jetty during sunset and just had to try and get a photo of it. So I slowly trudged through the water, climbing over boat moorings, getting closer and closer until I was able to capture this shot with a 300 mm lens. The second pic is of me in action capturing this shot (I thought I’d share because well, why not? Don’t you want to see a rare shot of me in action? 😉).

Las Coloradas, Yucatán, México || Exactly one year ago, I was in Río Lagartos, México, with the goal of getting some photos of flamingos. After my scheduled flamingo tour got rained out the prior evening, I arrived at the dock at 4:45 am (yes, I can get up very early when I need to!). The early wake-up call was well worth it as my guide and I were greeted by an amazing sunrise and hundreds and hundreds of flamingos bathed in stunning light. Truly a spectacular experience! I wish I could be there right now but hopefully next year, I’ll be able to return. Muchas gracias a por ayudarme a hacer recuerdos preciosos y hermosas fotos!🦩🦩 🦩

Cormorant, Río Lagartos, México. Exactly one year today, I was in Río Lagartos, México to take photos of flamingos. That got completely rained out but I did find this beautiful cormorant who posed for me.
