All messages and inquiries will be answered when I return on Monday, October 19th!

Thank y’all for always supporting my business and allowing me to have these moments outside of being your photographer! 🤍

Now, let’s go celebrate this BRIDE!!! 🥂💍

10/05/2026

I know I’m not the fastest photographer when it comes to getting galleries out. 🤍

And I’ll be the first one to admit that.

But there’s a reason.

I don’t use automated editing software. I don’t use AI apps to edit your photos. I don’t throw an entire gallery into a program, slap a preset on it, and call it done.

I also don’t have an editing team.

I don’t outsource your galleries or send your images overseas to an editor I’ve never met. Your photos of your children, your family, your wedding, your newborn, your senior, or some of the most personal and important moments of your life aren’t being uploaded and sent off to some unknown person somewhere else to edit.

When you hire Double K Photography, you hire me.

And your images stay with me.

Every. Single. Image. that leaves Double K Photography is handled by ME.

I go through your images by hand. I select them by hand. I edit them individually. I zoom in. I fix the little things. I check skin tones, colors, distractions, lighting, crops, and all of those tiny details you may never even notice, but I do.

Then I go back through them again before I deliver them because I want to make sure what I’m putting my name on is something I’m proud of.

And Double K Photography is just me.

I’m the photographer.
I’m the editor.
I’m the receptionist.
I’m the social media manager.
I’m the one answering your Facebook messages, texts, emails and phone calls.
I’m the one sending contracts, handling bookings, planning sessions, setting up the studio, cleaning up afterward, backing up your images, editing your galleries and finally delivering them.

There isn’t a team behind the scenes editing while I’m shooting. There isn’t an assistant answering messages while I’m sitting at my computer. There isn’t a third-party company processing galleries in the background.

It’s me. All of it.

And something else I think is important to explain: at any given time, I may have 15+ sessions AND 1–2 weddings actively in my editing queue.

So if you’re waiting on your gallery, I promise your pictures are not just sitting on the back burner somewhere forgotten.

I am working through thousands upon thousands of images, one gallery at a time, while still photographing new sessions, weddings and events along the way.

A wedding alone can mean going through and hand-editing hundreds and hundreds of final images. Then add senior sessions, families, newborns, sports, events, cake smashes and everything else I photograph into the mix.

I’m not sitting on your photos. I’m working on them.

And I’m also working on the galleries of the people who trusted me before you, while making sure that when it’s your turn, your gallery gets that exact same attention and care.

I refuse to rush through someone else’s wedding just to get to your family session faster, and I refuse to rush through your family session just because there are 10 more galleries waiting behind yours.

Every client deserves my best. Not just the clients at the front or back of my editing queue.

But there’s another part of this that I think sometimes gets forgotten when you run a small business:

I’m a person outside of Double K Photography, too.

I’m a mom.
I’m a wife.
I’m a daughter.
I’m a sister.
I’m a friend.

And those people deserve pieces of me, too.

There may be a Saturday that you see me celebrating a birthday instead of sitting behind my computer. There may be an evening that I’m playing with my kids instead of answering messages. There may be a family dinner, a holiday, a ball game, a date night, or simply a day where I close my laptop and choose to be present with the people I love.

And I don’t think that’s something any small business owner should have to feel guilty for.

I photograph people’s lives for a living. I photograph the birthdays, the babies, the weddings, the milestones and all of the little moments in between because I know just how quickly those moments pass.

I deserve to be present for those moments in my own life, too.

So if you see me away from my computer while you’re waiting on a gallery, please know that doesn’t mean I don’t care about your photos. It doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten about you. It doesn’t mean your gallery isn’t important to me.

It simply means that for a little while, I’m being Mom. Or Wife. Or Daughter. Or Sister. Or Friend.

Then I come back, open my computer, and keep working.

I know that means I may not be the photographer for everyone. Some people need or want an extremely fast turnaround, and I completely understand that.

But I would rather ask you for a little patience and deliver something I am genuinely proud of than rush through some of the most important memories of your life just so I can say I got them back quickly.

Because these aren’t just files to me.

They’re your babies being tiny.
Your senior before they graduate.
Your family exactly as they are in this season.
Your wedding day you spent months or years planning.
Your parents and grandparents.
Your milestones.
Your once-in-a-lifetime moments.

And sometimes, they’re moments we don’t realize the importance of until years later.

One day, a photograph I took may be one of the only things you have left to physically hold onto from that moment or that person.

That matters to me.

So yes, sometimes Double K takes a little longer.

But when you receive your gallery, I want you to know there was a real person behind every single image. The same person you trusted to take them in the first place.

Someone who cared about them. Someone who looked over them. Someone who worked on them by hand. Someone who knows the people in those photos aren’t just another gallery number.

I don’t pride myself on being the fastest. I pride myself on caring.

About the quality of my work.
About the memories you trusted me with.
And about being present for the memories happening in my own life, too.

I’ll choose quality over quantity, care over convenience, and being human over running myself into the ground every single time. 🤍

🦇 LET’S GET BATTY MINIS🦇

Okayyyy these might be my favorite simple minis yet. 👀

AND they are on HALLOWEEN! 🎃 🦇

You only have to get the kiddos (or yourself 👀 ) dressed once! Just get ready early, stop by the Double K Photography studio and snag your batty photos before you go trick or treating!

LET’S GET BATTY MINIS are here!! Simple, fun, and all about those Halloween costumes! 🎃

The best part? YOU pick the background color. Want it to match their costume? Done. Want their favorite color? Absolutely. Want to keep it clean with plain white? We can do that too!
I’ll add the bats and let your little one + their costume do the rest. 🦇

Princesses, superheroes, witches, monsters, cowboys, Bluey, dinosaurs, whatever they’re dressing up as, BRING IT.

These aren’t just “Halloween pictures”… they’re a chance to actually document the costumes they’re SO excited about this year. 🥹

Because one day you’re going to miss the year they refused to take off that Spider-Man costume (which is where my son is right now haha) or insisted on being a princess everywhere they went. 😂

Back in August, I got the opportunity to attend a workshop and learn from the amazing Click Thompson.📸

An opportunity that would not have been possible without the generosity of two very amazing people who believed in me enough to make it happen. I don’t think they’ll ever fully understand what they gave me that day, and I will forever be grateful.❤️

Because I walked into that workshop thinking I was going to learn more about photography.

I walked out realizing I had found a piece of myself I thought I had lost.

This past year has been one of the hardest years of my life.

I’ve faced trials and tribulations that most people probably don’t even know about. I’ve been stretched thin in ways I didn’t know were possible.

But somehow, it has also been one of the most rewarding years of my life.

I’ve captured sessions that had me in tears while editing them, and sometimes while I was taking them.

I’ve photographed new life entering this world.

I’ve photographed some of the final moments people had on this earth.

I’ve captured weddings, babies, families, seniors, rodeos, milestones and all of the little moments in between.

And somewhere along the way, while trying to balance being a mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend AND business owner… I lost myself a little bit.

Because the truth is, some days it feels impossible.

No matter which direction I turn, I feel like I’m letting someone down somehow.

If I’m giving everything to my business, I feel like I’m taking from my family.

If I’m giving everything to my family, I feel like I’m failing my clients.

If I take time for myself, I feel guilty because there are 900 other things I “should” be doing.

And I think somewhere along the way, I convinced myself that being needed by everyone else meant there wasn’t supposed to be much of me left over.

You get so used to being somebody’s mom. Somebody’s wife. Somebody’s photographer. Somebody’s friend. Somebody’s person to call when they need something.

You spend so much time making sure everyone else is okay that one day you realize you haven’t asked yourself that same question in a really long time.

Am I okay?

Not “Are the kids okay?”

Not “Are my clients happy?”

Not “Did I answer that message?”

Not “Did I finish that gallery?”

Not “What does somebody need from me next?”

Just… am I happy with the life I’m building?

And that was a hard question to answer.

Because I love my family more than anything in this world. I love my clients. I love the life I have built.

But I realized loving all of those things and wanting something for myself can exist at the same time.

I don’t have to disappear inside of all the roles I carry.

My children deserve a mom who sees them chasing the things that make them light up, and shows them what that looks like by doing it herself.

My husband deserves a wife who still has dreams of her own.

And I deserve to create a life that I don’t just survive, manage and keep running for everybody else.

I deserve to actually be present in it.

I think for a long time I confused being exhausted with being successful.

If my calendar was full, I was doing good.

If I was overwhelmed, that just meant business was booming.

If I was editing until 2 AM, answering messages while making dinner, carrying my laptop everywhere and constantly thinking about the next thing I needed to accomplish… that meant I was working hard enough.

But what is the point of building the business of your dreams if somewhere in the process you stop dreaming?

That realization hurtttt.

Because Double K Photography was built from something I loved.

And somewhere along the way, photography started feeling different.

The pressure to be perfect started winning.

Every image had to be THE image.

Perfect lighting. Perfect composition. Perfect pose. Perfect moment. Perfect edit.

I stopped picking up my camera because I wanted to and started picking it up because I had to.

I lost my fire.

My passion.

My love for the thing that I built this entire business around.

After several long conversations with my incredibly supportive husband, I had actually made the decision that I would continue Double K Photography through December, and then I would decide whether it was time to close this chapter of my life.

I genuinely thought I might be done.

Then I went to Click’s workshop.

Standing inside Cowtown Coliseum in the Fort Worth Stockyards, camera in my hand, something just…..clicked.

Pun absolutely intended. 🤣

One thing Click repeated throughout the workshop stuck with me more than I think he probably realized:

Not every image has to be the perfect shot.

Not every image has to follow the rules.

Not every image has to fit this idea we’ve created in our heads of what photography is “supposed” to look like.

Sometimes the image that matters isn’t the biggest moment happening in the arena.

Sometimes it’s what’s happening behind it.

The hands.

The dirt.

The emotion.

The quiet moment nobody else noticed because they were too busy watching the action.

And standing there, I started seeing things differently.

Not just through my camera.

In myself.

In my business.

In what I want my future to look like.

And maybe that was the lesson I needed outside of photography, too.

Not everything in life has to look perfect to be worth remembering.

Maybe the most meaningful parts of our lives aren’t always the big, perfectly planned moments.

Maybe they’re hidden in the messy parts.

The seasons that stretch us.

The moments that break us open.

The things that don’t go according to plan but somehow change the direction of our entire lives.

Maybe I had spent so much time trying to create a “perfect” life and a “perfect” business that I forgot to actually experience the life happening right in front of me.

That workshop reminded me that I don’t want to spend my life simply documenting everyone else’s story while forgetting that I’m still writing my own.

I went to that workshop expecting to learn more about rodeo photography.

Instead, I learned that it’s okay to create because something speaks to ME.

It’s okay to put myself first sometimes.

It’s okay if every image isn’t technically “perfect.”

It’s okay to break the rules.

And it’s okay for the business I started years ago to grow and change as I grow and change.

As I’m finishing up the galleries I currently have out, I’ve realized something:

I want more.

Not necessarily more sessions.

More meaning.

I want to photograph more of the world around me.

I want to chase the moments that make me feel something.

I want more passion projects.

More western work.

More livestock.

More rodeo.

More documentary work.

More storytelling.

More images that might not be “perfect” but make you stop scrolling because you can FEEL them.

More of the things that make me pick up my camera because I genuinely cannot wait to see what I create.

More me.

So, no, Double K Photography isn’t going anywhere. 😂

My business is staying right where it is.

And while nothing is really changing,

at the same time, everything is.

I’m giving myself permission to fall in love with photography again.

That does mean my availability may start becoming more limited as I make room for other areas of my photography career and start saying yes to the things that light that fire in me.

I’ll still be here to photograph your babies, your seniors, your families, your weddings and all of those moments you trust me with.

You might just want to book a little earlier because your girl is about to be BUSY. 😉😂

I thought I had lost my passion for photography.

Turns out, I didn’t lose it.

I just buried it underneath expectations, perfection, deadlines and trying to be everything for everybody.

And maybe finding it again wasn’t really about photography at all.

Maybe it was about finding me again.

And I think I’m finally starting to. ❤️
