The Perseid meteor shower absolutely showed up and showed off but the Milky Way core always steals my heart at this point in the season. It’s so incredible to witness! You’ll still be able to see shooting stars for a few days ✨

Don’t forget to go outside tonight and look up! The Perseid meteor shower peaks overnight from Wednesday, August 12 into the early morning of Thursday, August 13. Thanks to a coinciding new moon, skies are exceptionally dark, offering perfect viewing conditions for up to 100 meteors per hour.

This is also a prime time to capture the Milky Way!

Light pollution affects more than 80% of the world’s population - that means roughly 1/3 of people can’t see the stars at night.

How lucky I am that this is home - on nights near the new moon the Milkyway is visible with the naked eye. ✨

**GIVEAWAY IN THIS POST**

Hey friends! Happy Milky Way core season, don't forget with 1% moon visibility its a good night to get out and look up at the skies. ALSO this season we're looking to give away TWO photoshoots locally (laidback, no pressure, easy going shoots!).

The first - we'd like to find someone with kiddos and a pool - we're hoping to dabble with some underwater shots as well as just in the water (think cute floaties, goggles, splashing each other) type pool fun.

The second - we'd like to find a family with kiddos that are either doing a lake day (Detroit Lake) for an evening shoot OR someone doing a creek/pond day with exploring, swimmin, fishing, any of the above. (Though we're honestly open to hose fights, sprinklers, sq**rt guns and backyard fun as well!)

The only criteria is that its semi local and families who are interested MUST be okay with images shared online.

Where I started - where I am now!
Excited for milkyway season to be here. It's been nice adding in the sports games but I'm so ready to be back under the stars here in the Canyon.
