My baby turned 14 today… and honestly, I have no idea how that’s even possible 😭

It feels like just yesterday I was holding his tiny little 7lb self in that hospital room begging them to let me go home early because I was so ready to just be home with my baby. I remember convincing them to release me at exactly 24 hours because all I wanted was to load him up, take him home, and start our life together.

And now somehow… he’s 14.

I know every mama says it, but there truly is nothing that prepares your heart for how fast time moves once you become a mother.

One minute you’re surviving sleepless nights and rocking a tiny baby on your chest… and the next, they’re taller, older, more independent, and you’re sitting there wondering where in the world all of those the years went.

I think that’s one of the reasons I care so deeply about capturing your sweet babies.

Because when the years start flying by, those photos become little pieces of time you get to hold onto forever 🤍

A recent mama drove an almost 5 hour round trip to my studio with her newborn baby… and honestly, that still blows me away!

She told me she had searched through photographer after photographer all over Mississippi, but once she found my page, she just knew I was the one she wanted to capture her new baby.

The problem was, she realized how far away she was from me and was wondering if making that drive with a brand new baby was even realistic.

But her husband was so sweet and she said he told her, “All you have to do is sit back and relax. I’ll get you and the baby there.” 🥹 And he did just that!

Plus, the baby slept the entire way and mama even got a little nap in as well!

Honestly, I’ve thought about that conversation so many times since then.

There are so many wonderful photographers closer to where these families live. So when a mama chooses me out of all the options she had, it feels incredibly personal and meaningful to me every single time.

I truly pour my whole heart into caring for these families, and I never want a single mother to leave my studio without feeling loved, seen, and so glad she made the drive 🤍

Whether my families come from 10 minutes away or 3 hours away, I am always deeply honored to be chosen for such a special moment in their lives as they welcome and celebrate their precious new baby.

I promise to take such great care of you and your new baby with everything I have!

One of the first things so many expecting mamas say to me is…..

“I almost didn’t book maternity pictures because I just haven’t felt pretty this pregnancy.”

And honestly, I know so many moms feel this way. Pregnancy can feel beautiful and hard all at the same time. Your body changes so much, and being in front of a camera can feel really vulnerable.

But by the end of their session with me, They’re usually looking through the back of my camera saying,
“Okay wait… Is that me?! I actually love these.”

That’s exactly why I guide every pose from start to finish so you never feel lost or uncomfortable. You don’t ever have to worry about what to do with your hands or whether you look flattering from a certain angle. I’m paying attention to all of that for you.

My mamas also love that my style feels soft and real. Never stiff or overly posed. They also love that all they have to do is show up and not have to think through anything since I provide beautiful dresses for you to wear. I think one of the reasons I love photographing newborns so much is because new parents may not even realize they’re living through the days they’ll one day miss with their whole heart 🤍

Right now you’re exhausted, running on no sleep and wondering if you’re doing anything right while trying to learn this brand new version of life.

And in the middle of all that, these little moments are slipping away without you even knowing.

One day, this stage will feel so far away. And these photos will become more than just pictures. They’ll be a beautiful reminder of how small your baby once was and how deeply you loved them from the very beginning.

I’ve been reflecting on our Motherhood event from March, and honestly… it still makes me emotional thinking about how beautiful those two days in the studio were. So much love, laughter and the sweetest little memories were forever captured 🤍

This sweet mama is actually a local photographer herself, so having her choose me to document her and her babies during the event truly meant so much to me. I know she was a little nervous about how her little ones would do, but they showed UP and absolutely stole the show like little rockstars. I know she left feeling so proud of them.

And can we talk about these stairs for a second? My husband custom built them for this event, and they ended up being the biggest hit with the kids. Every single child made a beeline straight for them and never wanted to get off which honestly worked out perfectly for me 😂

As much as I wanted to keep them in the studio forever, I had to clear the space for now. But I love knowing another photographer is getting to enjoy them just as much as I did.

I’ve had quite a few people asking if I’ll offer these again this year… and honestly, I just might if there’s enough interest 🤍 Keep your eyes out.
