If you have ever done a shoot with me, I may have put you in a certain signature pose I’ve named “The Catherine”. And then I probably explained to you how this pose got its’ name, which is that I named it that in honor of my good friend/sister/mentor/fellow bo***ir photographer who I very much look up to and admire incessantly.
…well, THIS is THAT CATHERINE!!!!
This woman flew here in April to come to my movie premiere and spent a few days with me and my family just having the absolute best time, hanging out, going to events, chit chatting, and photographing one another…which was truly SUCH an honor. For the very first time, I got to photograph my beautiful and talented friend, and I will never be able to get over the feedback she shared with me when she saw her images.
Now don’t get me wrong, I do believe that I have found my calling and that I am talented in my craft as a bo***ir photographer…but when faced with photographing someone I admire so much, who is BEYOND talented, who has been in the bo***ir photography industry for far longer than I have, who is literally the TOP bo***ir photographer in DALLAS…? I will admit, I felt a little nervous 😂
But, I told myself to do exactly what I always do, I wanted to show her exactly the kind of experience that I offer my clients. And what she had to say upon receiving her images was literally the kind of validation I needed, that I didn’t even know that I needed. She said, “Jillian. I can’t stop looking at myself!” “Jillian, I have never seen photos of myself like this that made me feel like how my own clients say my photos make them feel.” “Jillian, you are so talented, I literally can’t believe this is me, you are the only photographer who has ever captured me this way, and I’m obsessed!”, and so much more.
To hear this feedback from her was a confirmation that I am doing exactly the thing that I was meant to do, and that means more to me than I can ever put into words.
My only regret is that I didn’t even have her do the signature “Catherine” pose during our shoot, but we were just having way too much fun 😂😂
