Pro tip for those mamas who have 2027 Seniors: Book your senior portraits FIRST SEMESTER. That seems a bit ridiculous, but I promise you won't regret it.
#1: If you want any type of "pretty landscape" you will want to book late summer or early fall. Lubbock landscape is dead and brown nearly the entire 2nd semester. As much as I wish I had the power to control Mother Nature - I do not - and I cannot make spring - spring any sooner. Without fail, I have people begging for flowers in March, and it's just not going to happen, y'all!
#2: Spring weather is INSANE. Lubbock Marie Texas does as she wants, with no consideration of my feelings. Spring is all over the place. It's super cold - then warms up - but with the warmth comes the wind. And then it gets cold again. Some times it rains...not this year, but it sure did last year! You'll likely reschedule your spring session at some point due to weather related activities.
#3: Seniors are SO busy in the spring. If they are in spring sports/other extra-curriculars - that literally takes over your life. Not to mention all of the other things that come up in the spring - prom, award banquets, etc. So many things!
#4: Not only are seniors busy in the spring - I'm busy too! (and so are many other photographers) It is pure chaos in Junod world with our kiddos in softball, baseball, dance! So the wiggle room is nearly non-existent!
#5: If you are envisioning cap and gown photos as a part of your senior session, I have a Semesters Package! One session each semester. When push comes to shove, and if the schedule gets insane, you already have photos for invitations, because of your 1st semester session. Then we can take the 2nd session at any time and not have a time crunch!
#6: Last but not least! If you have an athlete and want to showcase their love for their sport/event, but you also want regular portraits - You're in luck!! AJP works side by side with Legends by AJP - and we have several bundle options! We have already locked in several 2027 seniors, so if you want to get on the schedule, now's the time to do it before we hit max capacity with our bundles!
That about sums it up! Save yourself (and me, tbh) the drama - and book your session EARLY - that way you aren't stressed to the max, and having to scramble to find someone with an opening - and it end up not being what you envisioned for your senior! My calendar is currently open through the end of JULY! The calendar for the remainder of 2026 will be up soon. We can still lock in a package without a set date if you want to guarantee you're on my books for your senior!
