I should be cleaning my house… but the warmth and the promise of spring have me craving fresh air and sunshine.

I think I’m going to plan some landscaping today. Work outside. Maybe plant some seeds to put in the greenhouse.

Y’all, I met this beautiful family completely in faith and by the grace of God.
Back at the start of November (my busiest month of the year and often the farm’s busiest too) I drove past the most stunning cotton field I’d seen in years. With a tree line. In west Texas. I had to take pictures there! When my husband didn’t know who farmed it, I borrowed his phone and started calling around.

That’s when I reached a man who had zero interest in being photographed. He was kind, but firmly busy - as farmers usually are. Still, I insisted. “Just promise me you’ll tell your wife.”

That evening, I get a text. IT’S HER! And y’all … she had been praying for family photos.

Praying. And somehow, without even realizing it, I became the answer to that prayer.

I just “happened” to drive by. Just “happened” to feel inspired. And just “happened” to be crazy enough to insist on taking their photos despite our hectic life.

God does the most beautiful things when our hearts are open to obedience.

And the truth is… I’m certain she was a far bigger blessing to my heart than I ever was to hers!

I should be posting a New Years recap like everyone else… but let’s be honest. I’m bad about posting even my normal sessions.

So instead: These amazing people! I will forever be grateful to that for whatever reason Mark thought I’d like his childhood friend. And so my love story all started with a work friendship, that led to a blind date, that led to a better blind date… and that is the miraculous short story of how God gave me a husband and the best people as friends.

12 years later and they’re still willing to put up with us! 🤍🤍🤍

Happy New Years! May God bless you with love and faith and family.

I cannot believe it’s almost Christmas! I have so many posts I’ve been wanting to share and so many photos that I just LOVE. And here I am panic buying all the things I’ve been meaning to order. It’s fine, it’s all fine.

These sweet people here were some of my first clients. In fact they were the very first strangers who hired me and now they are some of my most favorite people ever and I’m blessed to call them friends. So I wanted to go back and share some of the pictures and I just haven’t had the chance to dig them all up. So for now you get this one… and I’m going to gather up my hard drives when the Christmas shopping is complete!

I feel like I say this after every gallery I deliver but y’all, this gallery might be my new favorite! When I started planning this session I had a few loose ideas about what we would do! A pile on top of dad, a stack of hands, precious girl giggles and motherly joy. Just 🥰🥰🥰

As a mom of four I can confidently say that days often feel long, messes are unending, and sometimes it’s really hard. In all the hustle and bustle it can be easy to skip over the joy and the tenderness. But I like to think if we could just hit pause for a moment, it might look a little like this. 🤍

I have all my sessions photographed and everything edited and delivered. Still have a ton of photos to post (including more of these!) But aside from that I’ll be here trying to admire the joy and love and excitement of the Christmas season!

Fawn facts: If y’all didn’t know it already were a farm family here. Cotton is sort of the story of our lives. A beautiful story and one that requires faith above all else. Come May we’ll plant a tiny seed in the ground. A million tiny seeds in the ground. Then we’ll scramble to keep the sand away from our delicate plants. Il drive the tractor on Sundays because our employees need at least one day off. We’ll have long days and short sleeps and we’ll spend more time in prayer than other days. “God please bless this crop”. Then all summer long we’ll fight heat and drought and hail. Mostly we fight it with prayer. But the weeds. The weeds will make us question our faith because how can they be so bad? “Why God?” And we’ll pour dollars and dollars - and more dollars into the weeds and the pests and the hope that this is ‘finally the year.’
Then. THEN. If everything goes ok we’ll harvest. And things will break. And it’ll feel excruciatingly slow sometimes. And it’ll mean long days and even later nights. And if it works out - at the end of the year that 60 cents a pound will pay the bills. If we’re extra blessed we’ll make a little money. Or it could all fail and suddenly our life isn’t what we thought it was.

But y’all, no matter how it turns out. God is good! So good.

But also say a prayer for your farmers. And buy cotton.

This crew showed up with all the joy, all the hugs, and all the real life moments. Love their session! There is something so special about watching a family settle in, forget the camera, and just be themselves. Grateful I get to freeze these tiny pieces of their story. 🤍 love my job!

Y’all. This was my busiest year yet (Thank you everyone) and I’m editing away everyday just so excited to deliver your galleries! And I wanted to be done by now. We are crazy Christmas people in this household and my kids and I are deep into the Christmas spirit right about now!

But also how cool that I’m not done! That I get to deliver galleries that spark even more love and joy and even more love.

So, Thank you everyone for your patience and kindness and support!

Also everyone check out my extra beautiful friend and the most precious little personalities she’s raisin’. Gosh I’m blessed to know good people. 🤍

I’ve been trying to be intentional about capturing a few more artful moments in my sessions. With only two children that’s a little easier than the beautiful chaos of five. But nonetheless when opportunity presents or when requested I love to add a touch of something less portrait-y.

If that’s your goal let me know ahead of time and I’ll be a little more intentional with my camera.

Although I can’t guarantee butterflies 🙃 🦋

If y’all ever wonder “why doesn’t she post my photos?”

It’s not you… it’s me. I am just always and constantly behind on social media. 🙃

So… I may skip around but all the way back in September I had the great and lovely honor of photographing my friend and her beautiful family on their gorgeous NM ranch.
