Today I received the newsletter from the Lowell Community Health Center. In it, it featured the story of one of my images that was donated in support of the Health Center.
ArtUp: A perfect way to honor your loved ones, friends or colleagues
For Maureen Gervais, ArtUp has provided the perfect way to honor the memory of her late husband Steve. Through ArtUp, patrons can purchase artwork for permanent display on the Lowell CHC walls, with half of the price donated to our annual fundraising and the other half to benefit the artist.
Maureen decided to donate "Beach Days," a photograph by local artist Janice Lind, because it reminded her of the view from the family's beachfront home in Kennebunk, Maine, where so many special family memories were created. An accompanying plaque will read simply: Donated in Memory of Steve Gervais.
"This photograph reminded me of Steve," says Maureen. The couple was among the first to donate to the capital campaign for our new building on Jackson Street. "We were in there on the ground floor, and it made me happy to be able to donate something more to the health center and to honor Steve at the same time."
What an honor. I am deeply moved that this image brought Maureen warm memories of her late husband, Steve. And her generosity will in turn help the Health Center meet it's fundraising goals. Thank you, Maureen.
