Morning Star

Amidst the fury and chaos of the storm,
we found each other, broken, lost, tattered,
a symbiosis, trust and bond took form,
different parts of each lost, forgotten, scattered,
we shared our working parts, to keep each other warm,
after the storm passed, together we felt less shattered,
together, slowly, we gathered our scattered dreams,
searching and finding the pieces that fit in place,
chased away the lie that we were broken to the seams,
together we learned again to love, hope and believe in grace.

The world ahead is now ours together to explore,
to discover, appreciate and learn to love who we are,
to know that our faith and love will lead to so much more,
to know understanding, support, and love is never far,
to know we have all we need just inside our door,
to know that you will always be my morning star,
that your loving light shines into my darkest hours,
that you bring me back to the beautiful creation we are,
that you paint the desert with your beautiful flowers,
Every morning I wake in the light of my morning star.

Prayer in the Dark

Grandpa, come fish with me,
help me learn patience with those around me,
Grandma come pray with me,
help me hold onto my faith in times of trial,
Father come grieve with me,
help me learn to let go of what is gone,
Mother come sit with me,
the silence has grown deafening and lonely,
Sister come run with me,
the roads I am on are rocky and treacherous,
Brother come love with me,
my anger at times takes my vision and heart,
Lord grant me your grace,
That I may act with love above all,
Lord armor me from the strikes of the enemy,
That my heart may survive the miserable days,
Lord grant me your mercy,
that you may hear me in my earnesty,
Lord grant me peace,
That I may spread it like wildfire,
Lord grant me humility,
That I never place myself above others,
Lord grant me forgiveness,
when I fumble on my way to your kingdom,
Lord grant me above all faith,
When chaos chases away the peace I have built.
