You never know where your passion will take you, the people you’ll meet, or the humble moments you’ll experience along the way✨

In 2013, I started Andrea Enger Photography with a dream, a camera, and SO much to learn. I never imagined where that little beginning would take me.

Fast forward to 2026➡️ after being invited to speak at my first conference, something new was born: Academia Andrea Enger!

To sit across from another photographer and share everything I’ve learned through the years - the successes, mistakes, lessons, the things I wish someone had told me when I was starting - felt incredibly humbling.

Photography has given me so much more than beautiful images. It has given me new connections, places, experiences, friendships, and now… the opportunity to give back and help someone else find their own path.

Winter is right around the corner and now is the perfect time to plan an epic adventure that is both memorable and adventurous. Need some ideas?

Here are some of my favorite winter activities for eloping couples:
🥾Snowshoeing – No experience needed! This is a super serene & memorable option.

⛷️Skiing – If you share a passion for skiing/snowboarding, what better way to celebrate than hitting the slopes? And yes, you can totally do this in a dress and suit.

🛷Horse-drawn sleigh ride – This is such a dreamy & romantic idea that lets you relax and take in the view without breaking a sweat.

🐕Dog sledding – Full send, full speed, then stopping in the quiet to say your vows. It’s cinematic.

❄️Snowmobiling – Access spots you simply can’t reach on foot in winter, and experience maximum privacy while cutting down on travel time.

Imagine this: the pink & orange sunrise filtering through the trees, your best friend by your side, and nothing but the sound of birds and a gentle breeze while you get ready. No chaos. No distractions. Just you, fully present for every single moment.

That’s what eloping gives you. The space to actually feel it all. The nerves, the laughter, the way your heart races right before you walk toward the person you’re about to marry.

Those are the moments that turn into core memories and make this decision 1000% worth it.

Sneak peeks from this gorgeous Telluride elopement have arrived! Sunrise in the San Juans = absolute magic✨

For a location like this, I recommend 10–12 hours of coverage. That gives you room to breathe, adventure, and soak it all in without watching the clock.

And if you’re still in the planning phase, consider going overnight! That’s the secret to getting the fullest experience - sunset golden hour, stargazing under some of the darkest skies around, and a sunrise ceremony that’ll make your heart burst. Best of both worlds.

Here’s what actually matters when planning a hiking elopement:
🥾 Give yourself way more time than you think you need. An hour per mile is the rule.
🧤 Layers are non-negotiable. Colorado weather has a mind of its own.
⏳ And most importantly? Go with the flow baby. The unplanned moments are always the best ones.

Crested Butte, you have my whole heart. 💛 There is truly nothing more magical than golden hour in the wildflowers with the mountains as our backdrop and the natural beauty of the land. This engagement session was pure Colorado perfection.

And how cute were these fur babies (yes, a CAT on the trails! 🐱🐶)?? Huge shoutout to this couple for braving the session with their whole crew in tow. It made for the most adorable, candid moments that I’ll never forget.

I am already counting down the days until their wedding next year! If the engagement session is this good, I know the “I do’s” are going to be absolutely epic!

P.S. If you’ve been dreaming of a mountain session like this, now is the time to book - the weather is prime and the wildflowers are calling. 🌸

After photographing elopements at high elevations for 10+ years, I’ve seen how altitude affects everyone differently. Some people feel nothing. Others get hit hard. And sometimes, a nosebleed appears out of nowhere!

Add these to your packing list before you embark on your adventure:

🩸 Tissues or a small cloth - For any sudden nosebleeds (tampons also work in a pinch!)
⚡️ Electrolyte packets - Liquid IV, Nuun, or LMNT. Water alone isn’t always enough.
💧 Saline nasal spray - The dry air at elevation is real. This helps so much!
👄 Lip balm - Chapped lips are almost guaranteed without it.
🧴 Lotion - Your skin will thank you.
☀️ Sunscreen - You burn faster at altitude. Don’t skip this, or sunglasses.
🍎 Snacks - Your body burns more energy up high. Keep something easy to eat nearby. Ginger chews really help with the sickness part of altitude sickness.

The most important thing? Being gentle with yourselves. If you need to slow down, rest, or adjust the plan, that’s not failure - that’s wisdom.
