Some observations after many years of doing mini sessions. Lea and I always get a kick out of the kids who come to see us! 😄❤️
Lea: "Can you put your arm around your sister?"
What the child hears: "Quick - put your sister in a headlock!"
Me: "Can you move just a tiny bit to your right?"
What the child hears: "Can you skip into the other room?"
Me: "Can you lower your chin just a little?"
What the child hears: "Can you open your mouth as wide as possible?"
Me: "Can you tilt your head to the left just a little bit?"
What the child hears: "Can you bend at the waist and touch your toes?"
Lea: "Hold this bucket of snowballs and pretend you're going to throw one at Mr. Tim!"
What the child hears: "Can you pelt Mr. Tim with every snowball in this bucket?"
Lea: "Hold this basket of apples. You can take a bite of one if you like!"
What the child hears: "Hold this basket of apples and take a small bite of every single one of them!"
Lea: "Ok, let's let mom and dad sit on the bench first."
What the children hear: "Hurry! Every one of you kids pile onto the bench!!"
Lea shakes a pompom at child #1. Child #1 laughs and we get a great picture.
Lea shakes the pompom at child #2 and child reacts as though Lea threw a rattlesnake at him. Not a good picture.
Child: "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeese"
Lea: "It's ok, sweetie - you don't have to say ch..."
Child: "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese"
Lea: "You don't have to say cheese, just talk to me. What do you want for Chri..."
Child: "Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeese"
Parent: "Stay off of the stairs, honey!"
Child: "What's up there?"
Lea: "Those used to be our kids' bedrooms, but they've grown up and moved out."
Child: "Are there any toys up there?"
Mom sets little boy on the bench.
Little boy gets up and runs back to mom.
Mom sets little boy on the bench.
Little boy gets up and runs back to mom.
Lea: "Ok, let's let big sister show him how it's done!"
Big sister sits down on the bench.
Little boy runs from mom and pushes sister away from bench and sits down.
Lea: "Can you hold this present and smile at Mr. Tim?"
Child: "What's in it?"
Lea: "Nothing - it's just an empty box."
Child: "Can I open it?"
Lea: "No, I'm sorry - it's just a prop."
Child: "But what's in it?"
Lea: "It's just an empty box, sweetie!"
(Picture for interest. The kids are not guilty of any of these things! 😄)
