These humans.

The chefs of this the Epicurean Village are something else entirely.

Talented. Joyful. A community.

I showed up with two cameras, one incredible assistant, and a whole lot of intention. What I left with was so much more.

Just the beginning. Gallery dropping soon.

We spend so much time trying to get it right in front of a camera.

And then there’s a moment where that effort disappears.

That’s the moment I wait for.

Mac wrote a review about our recent shoot together that meant a lot to me:

“Jama captures the essence of a person, not just the image in front of her.”

It’s hard to explain, but that’s exactly what I’m trying to do.

2025, you were a year.

You stretched me.
You surprised me.
You completely knocked the wind out of me once or twice… and then handed it back, stronger.

This year held deserts and highlands, quiet mornings and loud laughter, soulful conversations, brave humans, and moments behind the camera that reminded me exactly why I chose this work in the first place.

It held a lot of creative risk. Personal growth, both physical and mental. A few plot twists I didn’t see coming. And more gratitude than I sometimes remembered to say out loud.

It was also a year that felt unsteady in my industry, in the world, in the collective nervous system.

And yet, what rose to the surface was something deeply good. More generosity. More transparency. More real connection. I felt held by the photography community in ways I won’t forget. Less competition, more care. A beautiful reminder that we don’t do this work alone.

I traveled far and stayed close.

I photographed transformation in others while living it myself.

I learned that rest is productive. That joy is a discipline. And that trusting your gut still counts as a strategy.

But the wins felt earned, the connections felt real, and the work felt honest and through it all, joy kept showing up. Sometimes quietly. Sometimes loudly. Always on the other side.

These images are pieces of the year as I lived it. Moments of beauty, courage, curiosity, and motion. Proof that even in the messy, chaotic middle, there was so much magic hiding in plain sight.

As I look ahead, I’m stepping into the new year hopeful, grounded, and open leaving the noise behind and moving forward with clearer vision, steadier feet, and genuine curiosity for what’s next.

Thanks for being here. For watching, supporting, cheering, booking, hugging me tight, and believing in this world alongside me.

Onward.
xx J.

had this quiet power about her, the kind that fills a frame without trying. The florals caught the light and shimmered like living things. Every thread, every movement felt like nature showing off.

This is what I love most about creating outdoors—how simple tools can turn the impossible into the extraordinary. No studio lights, no backdrop, just trust, texture, and the patience to wait for the perfect reflection.

By the time she stepped into the pool, the light had softened and the world felt still. Water and fabric danced together, and for a heartbeat, everything around us disappeared.

Texas heat, floral tulle, and a woman who embodied both softness and strength.

After shuffling the start of my week to dodge gale-force winds in NYC, my consolation prize today is an editing marathon with a view of pure gorgeousness. Oh darn. ♡

And Lilah makes my heart skip a beat. She’s glowing from the inside out.

was one of five muses at the retreat in Marble Falls, Texas last week. These creative, wildly talented women modeled their hearts out in the blazing southern heat riding horses, running laps around the ranch, drenching themselves in water and sunshine. What a sight to behold.

The ranch hadn’t seen rain since July, so unless you were tucked in the shade of deep-rooted trees, you were standing on hard-packed dirt and kicking up dust.

We had Lilah in full sun that afternoon, working on outdoor lighting setups. Her energy is nonstop, and since I wouldn’t have minded a breeze, we decided running and dancing might call one in. And it did. What a fabulous breeze it was.

The Retreat Ranch is one long, sun-baked mirage: ice baths and yoga pavilions, bunkhouses, incredible chefs, and a staff that makes you feel right at home.

This image of Lilah holds every ounce of freedom and joy I felt walking those dirt roads and forging new friendships.

Happy Monday xx J

The Louisville Thoroughbred Society was glowing that morning — all sunlight, southern-style warmth, and the kind of welcome that makes it one of my favorite on-location places to shoot.

Jonathan arrived with a wardrobe he hand-picked himself: crisp blazers, casual layers, and a little personality tucked into every look.

We had a plan, but the best parts of the day came in the in-between — when he laughed over a “Cat Dad” mug his kids gifted him, when he tossed his blazer over his shoulder like he’d been practicing for a runway, when we leaned into the details that made it feel like him.

That’s the thing I love most about these sessions: it’s not just about what we check off the list, it’s about who shows up.

And Jonathan? His gallery tells the story of a man with vision, drive, and a sense of humor that makes the work feel effortless.

Now he’s got a library of images that look sharp, feel real, and will carry him into his next chapter as CEO, speaker, and author.

August gave me goosebumps.

Not because of perfect light or angles — but because of the way people showed up:

• A senior stepping into her power in a Parisian-inspired hotel lobby.
• A CEO loosening his blazer and suddenly owning the room.
• A voice-over actor who turned sidewalks and s**g carpet into her own stage.

That’s the work. That’s why I keep showing up too.

Dogmetology

Working with business owners who put client care and their team’s well-being at the heart of what they do? That’s what I call a photographer’s dream.

A few Mondays ago, I spent the morning with Mac Sutton and her incredible team — Mikayla, Sarah, and Callie — the powerhouses behind Dogmetology, a luxury dog salon in Crestwood, KY.

Together we created a library of images that do more than just look pretty:
✨ Modern headshots that position them as trusted experts.
✨ In-action grooming shots that show their craft and care.
✨ Portraits with their beloved pups that build trust and connection instantly.

Now, instead of scrambling for the “right” photo, Dogmetology has a strategic brand library of 30+ images they can use everywhere: their website, social media, press features, and beyond.

This is the difference my Signature Branding Experience is designed to deliver — not just polished portraits, but visuals that actually work for your business.

I’m so proud of what these women are building. And yes, Capricorn and Stella Nova are already booked in for their monthly spa days.

Twenty Years in a Blink.

I’ve been thinking about how twenty years can go by in a blink.

I remember the moment he was placed in my arms—new and wide-eyed and already so present.
He looked like he had been fighting a boxing match when I first saw his face.
The first time grandfathers were standing next to each other looking over him and grinning from ear to ear.

I didn’t know then how deeply he would shape me.
That raising him would teach me how to listen differently.
How to stretch, soften, and stay steady.
That curl your toes into the ground and hold on for dear life kind of crazy.

And how to grow right alongside him.

Jacob is the kind of person who’s always been more.
More curious. More open. More steady.
He’s never been one to take no for an answer.
He asks the big questions. He shows up.
He listens. He adjusts.
And he keeps going.

He’s strong and wise and his wheels are always spinning.
He’s deeply kind and endlessly loyal.
And somehow, he’s both my son and one of my favorite people.

He’s 20 today.
And even though my heart still sees flashes of the little boy with the wild imagination watching Happy Feet for the umpteenth time…
What I see now is a man who knows himself.
Who holds space for others.
And who is just getting started.

The best is yet to come, Jacob.
You at the wheel. Me, grinning ear to ear.
Always.

Happy Birthday, my boy. 💛

I propose that one day every year the entire world flips to black and white with dreamy, 360-degree soft lighting. Everyone would look like a glowing vampire in a perfume ad—and honestly, I think humanity deserves that.

Don’t you? ✨

This is why I take self-portraits:

To step out of my head and into something less noisy.
To see myself without filters — but also lit like a noir goddess.
To remember that I’m still here. Still art. Still becoming.

Some days it’s playful.
Some days it’s medicine.
Some days it’s both.

I do it for me, but also for the version of me that forgets sometimes. And maybe, for the version of you who’s craving that same kind of reminder.
If you’ve been longing to feel seen — really seen — in all your bold, glowing glory...

🖤 Booking August + September sessions now.

DM me to start the conversation or head to the link in bio for details. You don’t have to wait for the world to go black and white — I’ve got the lighting covered ✨
