Today, I’m going to continue on with post 2/4 of my little series on the top questions I get from expecting mamas🤰.

Newborn photos! I get asked “How do I go about booking newborn photos when we dont know exactly when our baby will arrive? What if there are no sessions available when they arrive?”

For Newborn photos there are 2 options.

1.) A Fresh 48 Session. These are images captured within the first 48 hours of life. They are typically captured at the hospital and document some of your first moments together.

2.) Traditional Newborn Session. These are images captured within the first 2 weeks of life to document all the squishy sweetness while giving you more time to adjust, recover and settle in. I offer these at your home or in studio.

For booking a fresh 48 or newborn session, I recommend booking an undated spot for their birth month so you’re in my calendar/a spot is held for you. Then once your sweet baby arrives, we can discuss the specifics on day/time that fits your newborns routine best.

Expecting in 2026? Congratulations to you, mama! What a blessing 🤍.

Tonight, I’m kicking off a 4 post series on my top photography related questions from expecting mothers. The #1 question being:

“How long should I wait to do my maternity photos?”

When it comes to a timeline for maternity photos, I always recommend trying for around 32-35 weeks. My reasoning for this is pretty simple……your bump will be adorable but you won’t be completely waddling like a penguin yet 🤣. I don’t want any soon-to-be mamas completely miserable for a session they’ve dreamt about for years. Also, it takes me 2-3 weeks to finish your photos and send your gallery. I want to make sure you get to enjoy the experience all around before your little bundle of joy arrives.

Now, it’s storytime about this session…

Oooooo this session. This was the first session in yearsssss that came close to making me have a heart attack. I was driving to the location and it got so gloomy, rainy, dark and gross that the street lights came on at 4:00. Panic. I was driving in pure panic. Shooting in moody light is one thing……a personal favorite honestly……but shooting in the dark is another thing all together 😅. After about 5 minutes, this beautiful sunset popped through the clouds. Dreamy evening light and a touch of pink, fitting for a soon-to-be baby girl 😍. I’d never been so happy to see that golden hour goodness!

As 2025 is coming to an end, I can’t help but reflect on some of my favorite sessions of the year 🤍. Thank you for letting me be such a sweet part of your 2025.

🤍🍂This season has been busy & amazing. It’s been full of laughs, new families, beautiful fall scenes, and lots of blessings! 🤍🍂

Storytime…..

I won’t be forgetting about the Terry family anytime soon 🤍. They took the brunt of the rain that came across the parkway on fall mini day. I kept checking the radar in between families and could tell it was coming….and coming right for their time slot. I gave Danielle a call to see what she thought and of course they were all dressed, ready, and in the car. I couldn’t imagine getting all those sweet babies ready and then not being able to do your session. So we decided to go for it! And I’m so glad they did. We made some unforgettable rainy day memories in the mountains! 🤍🫶🏻
