Sometimes the best photos come when you throw the original plan out the window.
We had already planned this session out on our planning call: bedroom, living room, maybe outside, done. But we passed the playroom while walking around the house, and the light in there was unreal. Mom hesitated. It was a typical playroom, not tidied, not "photo ready." I get it, I really do.
But here's something I tell every family: light always wins.
And this family was amazing, and flexible, and up for it! So we cleared one small corner, sat down right on the floor, and just played.
And friends, these photos! 😍 Mom's laugh when big brother wouldn't stop wiggling. Dad, wrapped around his new son like he'd been doing it for years. And big brother, this two-year-old absolute legend, kept grabbing his baby brother for hugs and kisses saying "I love you" over and over, completely unprompted. I don't think I've ever met a better big brother.
None of this happened in a tidy, styled room. It happened on a playroom floor, toys and all. What a way to start the day 🤍
This is exactly why I say you don’t have to have a “perfect” house for a session. Give me good light and a family who loves each other, and the rest takes care of itself.
Expecting, or have a newborn on the way? I'd love to capture your family's version of this.
