I’ve known Julie since high school and photographing her family is always such a joy! I first photographed a maternity and newborn session for them over three years ago, and getting to return to their house and photograph their family again made me so happy!

This was such a fun morning with the Scott family. Snuggles, swinging, and playing in the pool - I don’t think there’s a better way to spend a summer morning 🤍

To say I’m OBSESSED with our family photos by is an understatement

Here’s what a learned being on the other side of the camera…

I really tried hard to let go of expectations. Sure I wanted to have at least one good photo of us all smiling at the camera, but I cared more about photos that felt like us. Genuine smiles, playing, capturing the chaos… because Henry is 4 and wild and that’s the phase of life we’re in. However, saying all of this, it is hard to completely let go of expectations, and I recognize that too! (Being on this side of the camera is always a good reminder of that 😂)

Isle of Palms is a special place to our family, we’ve been coming here for years on vacation, and that’s part of the magic of these photos. I also stopped trying to dress like what I thought I was “supposed to,” and picked out outfits that felt like us. We were at the beach, so we wore swimsuits - that’s real life! You can still make real life beautiful 😉 and I could not be happier with the results 🥰

Anyway, I’ve looked at these photos about a hundred times and could probably keep going, but I’ll stop for now by saying thank you thank you thank you Taylor!!

I was supposed to have an in-home family session this weekend and we rescheduled because of all the rain.

Part of our plan was to head to the backyard halfway through to swing on the playground and blow bubbles, and I would’ve been SO sad if we had to skip that!

But that’s only part of it. We also wouldn’t have had any of the pretty light streaming through the windows, and honestly, good light can take a photo from good - to great.

Here’s to keeping my fingers crossed for sunnier days! 🤞☀️

Want in-home photos but it feels overwhelming? Good news: it’s a lot simpler than you think! Your home does NOT need to be perfect, in fact I encourage that it’s not! I love the “imperfections” it’s what makes you, you!

Let’s find some good light (this can even be outside on a porch or in the yard) and play. My goal is for you to enjoy this time together with your family. And while my other goal is to make your photos authentic to your family, I know we also want them to be beautiful 😉

That’s why before our session I send you an in-home prep guide, a questionnaire to get to know you better, offer wardrobe mockups for the whole family, and we hop on a quick call to go over everything pre-session.

I’ll guide you the whole way, and make the process as easy as possible 🥰

There was a time I would’ve made this image black & white. And while I still love a good black & white photo, I’m embracing the colors. They’re not neutrals, or perfectly coordinated, but I think that’s part of the charm. Real life isn’t neutral. These are my baby’s sweet rolls and toes, and the toy he always reaches for right now. And I think that’s worth remembering too.
