So a few weeks ago I posted about a Barred Owl in my backyard. Well tonight I hear this screeching from what I thought was possibly an injured Hawk, as we have a few where I live.
Well, to my surprise we have a Barred family. The chick which I estimate is about 4-6 weeks old, is getting the bird neighbors a bit riled up!
What a fur ball this little guy is. Pretty cool watching the parents taking care of this chick and will continue for about 6 months or so.
So a few days later I kept checking to see if he would be out, but towards dusk they came out. So come to find out there are actually 2 chicks. I couldn't get the other one due to a good view, but will keep working on it.
At one point the one of the chicks fell into some brush when momma flew in closer. Maybe he was trying to get close I don't know, but fearing the worst, I finally saw that he worked his way back up with little flaps of his wings.
It's amazing watching nature do its thing and how parenting is so engrained in DNA. Both parents flew in closer watching the events as the chick worked his way back up the tree branch by branch. Like I always say, the planet is a photographer's playground.
