I didn't do AA (it is most definitely not for me) so I never counted days. I can't tell you what day I walked into rehab or what day I walked out. I personally don't like the idea of keeping track. It puts emphasis on the addiction and less on the healing.

For some reason, in year 7 it dawned on me how long it had been since I drank. This May I celebrated 9 years. That's a long ass time and I'm really freaking proud of myself!

I'm not posting this to get props. I'm posting this to show those who are struggling that recovery is possible. Not only is recovery possible, so is healing from the trauma that led you to your addiction. Please reach out for help! 🙏❤️
