Emmy D Photography Welcome to Emmy D. Photography. I do photography as a side job for the love of the arts and wanted affordable prices for all families.

Tell me your life story and we will capture it together. I worked in a photography studio for 2 years after college and learned so much about lighting, posing, and various photography styles. I have a background in graphic design, art history, and advertising. When I first started Emmy D Photography, I was freshly out of college with my degree, had finished working at the studio, and was missing m

y artistic outlet of photography. A banker by day and a nature photographer by night. I keep feeling that artistic pull again. I’m now married to my best friend of 13 years and we have 3 boys and they keep me on my toes! I’ve been able to take many photos of them, almost daily. Now it’s time to still take their photos, but other families as well. ✨My style of editing may have changed some over the years, but my favorite is still seeing that sparkle in the eye that’s genuine, or the light shining just right. It’s all about the angles & the moments.

Today was SO FUN!!! 🤩 I felt reinvigorated after leaving Career Day! The kids said they learned a lot 😊 Mrs. Vosseler was so kind and I had over 75 students interested in photography! We covered basic business principles, camera gear (even quizzing on how much gear costs), editing, poses, lighting, pixels, building websites, gallery websites, marketing/advertising yourself, social media, graphic design (what they use vs what I use), how to incorporate what they know and make small changes, before & afters, what makes you pause with a photo. Wonderful questions too!
❤️ One big thing we chatted about is how photography IS ART and there are various styles. There are so many photographers, even in our little town and all of them have awesome photos, but people love what they love! It’s okay that there’s other art work out there - it’s a good thing! 💫 You find YOUR STYLE & PEOPLE WILL FIND YOU!! Plus we talked about how photography/graphic design is everywhere… all product photography, sports photography, fashion, nature, city scapes, architecture, animals, literally anything!!! Ended with if it’s something you love, photograph it 💕 mine is people & nature and those two things are absolutely stunning to me 🥰

I get to talk to middle schoolers about what it really means to be a photographer — and spoiler alert… it’s so much more than just taking pictures!!
It’s confidence.
It’s creativity.
It’s connection.
It’s entrepreneurship.
🙏🏻 Pray I don’t talk too fast and that at least one kid leaves thinking, “Hey… I could do that.” 🤍

Snow on the ground, still feels like Christmas right?! ❄️ These of course were sent weeks ago to the client for their holiday work party but I’m just now posting! Full of smiles, giggles and a few tears shed meeting Santa. Lots of food and drinks for the special occasion.
