On this day 26 years ago, 3 Doors Down released their debut album 'The Better Life.' Singer Brad Arnold also plays drums on the album; it is his only appearance behind the kit in the studio. The record produced three No. 1 singles - "Loser," "Duck and Run," and "Kryptonite." The fourth single "Be Like That" was a Top 10 hit, and a re-recorded version was featured on the soundtrack of 'American Pie 2.'

Brad Arnold wrote "Kryptonite" during math class in high school when he was just 15-years old. Perhaps the group's most enduring track, it is certified 8-times platinum in the U.S. by the RIAA and earned the band a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Song. The music video was a Top 10 hit on MTV's TRL.

To date, 'The Better Life' has sold over 7 million copies in the United States and was a keystone of the rock music renaissance in the late 1990s and early 2000s.
