There is another example of an old photo restoration. The original, dated 1916, is 3" x 4". I scanned it in on a Canon LiDE 400 (costs about $97.00) flatbed scanner at 4800dpi using Image Capture on an
older 27" iMac on the 26.5.1 version of Tahoe. I loaded the scanned image into Photoshop 2025, doubled the size of the image to 6" x 8", and tweaked the Exposure to increase the exposure and the gamma. I selected an oval shape to fit the original shape (which was a rough scissor cutting), inverted the selection, and cut the area (in this case using a blue background.) With Google Search, I found an image of an appropriate frame, took a screen capture, and superimposed it upon the scanned image fitting properly and merged the two layers and saved it as a jpg. I use an app named Befunky. I load the jpg into Befunky, subject it to debarring (motion option), and old photo restoration with colorizing selected. Befunky is amazing!
