Now that I’m booking consistent photo work again, I want to formally share a few business practices I’ve implemented. Since becoming a mama, my world and priorities have shifted in big ways! Photography is still something I deeply love, but I now run this business part-time in a rhythm that supports both my family and creative work. The number of sessions I take on, the way I communicate, and the prices I set all reflect that balance.
COMMUNICATION:
I keep designated office hours to manage all business-related communication. My typical office hours are Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10am and 3pm, so that’s when you can expect responses to messages — whether via cell, social media, email, or carrier pigeon. 😊 I do make exceptions for time-sensitive matters (like sessions happening within the next day or two), but outside of those hours, I’m focused on my family. Even during office hours, availability may shift from week to week depending on what my little one needs most.
AVAILABILITY:
As a full-time mama balancing childcare and weekly commitments, I typically schedule sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. If you need a Thursday through Sunday session, I’m happy to share available dates at a weekend rate. I am back to taking advance bookings and recommend planning ahead to secure a session during your preferred month, as openings are limited and tend to go quickly. My next openings begin in July, and I’ll be wrapping up sessions for the year by November 15.
PRICING:
To those who are family, church family, friends, or longtime supporters — I’m so grateful you’ve followed my work over the years. With motherhood changing my pace and priorities, one shift I’ve made is charging full price for all sessions in order to keep this work sustainable for my family. While I’ve loved being generous in the past, I now need consistency to support my family well. You can find general photo investments on my website to see if they align with your budget. If not, I completely understand — we all have financial priorities, and I hope mine will be respected too.
Thank you for reading, supporting this rhythm, and following along my journey as a business owner. 💛 These practices help me stay healthy, and most importantly, available to the ones who need me most.
With appreciation,
Jenna 💛
